"We did the demo on our old two-tiered decking. Betterliving built a new upper deck from composite with aluminum railing. The lower deck was replaced with as 12X15 sunroom. The process from start to finish was a pleasure. All employees were friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, and prompt. Price was better than anticipated, so we went with a 4-season sunroom instead of a 3-season. The worksite was safe, clean and orderly, and the quality of the build was excellent. They worked through some miserable cold weather too. Deck – Betterliving’s construction quality was a major improvement to what we previously had. Their suggestion to use two colors on the railing worked out great too - spindles are a different color that the rest of the railing. Sunroom - also very solid construction. It is insulated well, and also helps even out the temps in the family room it is attached to. The gable style not only looks nice, but makes the sun room look bigger. They built a small landing off of the sunroom entryway too. It is important to note that they installed the flooring and contracted the electrical. Flooring and electrical work were included as part of our quote with them. Not all of our quotes from other businesses included flooring and electrical work, and would have been an additional cost. Having everything included in the quote also meant we had one project, not several projects. Deck/sunroom/landing materials – decking and landing materials were the same composite materials. The sunroom skirting was also the same composite. This ties everything together visually, and improves the overall look. Electrical work – Knorr Electric completed all the electrical in the sunroom (interior and exterior outlets, exterior floodlight, and hung a ceiling fan). They also replaced all of our outside lighting on the entire house while they were here, and moved a bathroom light inside. They were also friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, and prompt. And quality work from them too. We will definitely contact Betterliving and Knorr again for any additional work we want done. They are highly recommended! Note that Betterliving in the Erie, PA area is connected to DBC Remodeling and Construction (same employees). DBC came highly recommended to us from a friend."
In the interior of the sunroom, white PVC wall panels were installed on the house wall, giving it a modern look as well as being water resistant.
Descending into this basement, you're welcomed by crisp white trim, a charming bar area and a big entertainment space, perfect for the whole family.
Complete with Privacy shades and a canopy, this family can adjust their outdoor experience however they please.

"Eli and his crew did a very good job. They completed the the work quickly (3 days) and professionally. Antonio and William were very good at their jobs. They were also friendly and polite. They worked hard and stayed until each phase of the project was completed every day (generally10 hour days). These two workers are well versed in all aspects of remodeling and their craftsmanship was very good. We would rate the quality as B+. I suppose if they had a dedicated tiler, a dedicated carpenter, a dedicated plumber, etc the quality would have been slightly higher - but the cost would be much higher. So the value is excellent.
As with any project like this, there were a couple of minor bumps along way but they took care of them quickly and thoroughly. They even returned to fix a couple of things that popped up after the job was completed. They answered all of our questions and made sure we were satisfied with the results.
We're very happy with the completed project. We definitely would use US Home Remodeling again. Full disclosure - we are not affiliated in any way with this company. This is the first time we have had any dealings with them.

"We found the black mold and immediately did a search for mold removal companies on Angie's list. Far too many times we've encountered poor quality customer service and quality work on projects in our home in the past, which is why my husband does all of our home improvements. This issue however was far beyond our realm of expertise. When we contacted Puroclean, they came with in 24 hours to inspect the mold and give us a quote. After inspection, they informed my husband they would be happy to stay and remove the mold THAT day, which was even better. Unfortunately, my husband still had to open up another wall in my daughter's soon to be bedroom in order to assure there wasn't mold in there, so he told them he'd call them back to schedule once we knew if that wall also needed the mold removal. My husband was than offered that IF we did find mold in her room, they would take care of that as well for the same price estimate we were given for just the play room! Given the scale of this home project, this was a huge relief for us, and so refreshing as many professionals we have encountered are not so kind. Not only was my husband very pleased with their professionalism, but he was also very happy with the quality of work they provided. Hecter and Jason were the professionals that came to our home and removed/sanitized the wall that had the black mold. Everything is now clean and safe and my husband can move forward with finishing the remodel. We are beyond happy with the quality of work and piece of mind that was provided to us. And although we would absolutely use this company in the future if we ever needed to, we truly hope we don't have to as this was an unexpected and scary home improvement we hope to not have to make again! Thank you Jason and Hecter for your awesome customer service, quality work, and kindness. We will be sure to recommend Puroclean to anyone we encounter that may need your services!

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

If you don’t have a crawl space but have a partial basement you want to make deeper, you can expect to spend a little less—between $40,000 and $90,000 on average. However, if you’re not adding new finished square footage, you won’t see much in the way of ROI.

A finished basement does not always count as square footage, as this varies by state regulations. In areas that allow below-grade spaces to be included in a home's official square footage, the basement must typically meet certain conditions. These conditions often include having a functional egress and being a livable space with flooring, finished walls, and temperature control. To be certain, contact your local assessor to confirm your area's specific policies regarding basement square footage.

You should always use high-quality lumber for your framing in order to ensure it will last the test of time and resist moisture. Use 2-foot by 4-foot lumber that is pressure-treated for your framing.

Kitchens and bathrooms are typically the most expensive rooms to renovate. The high cost is due to several factors, including expensive appliances like ranges, hoods, and refrigerators, as well as costly fixtures. The 'bones' of the room, such as electrical and plumbing, are also expensive to move or replace. Because of the vast amount of prep work, finishing, and specialized labor involved in a relatively small footprint, these projects can cost double or more than a living space remodel. Even when trying to renovate on a budget, kitchens and bathrooms will likely carry a hefty price tag.

Yes, you can add a kitchenette to a basement. However, you’ll have to consider the costs associated with basement kitchenettes. If you’re starting from scratch in an unfinished basement, you’ll need to account for brand-new plumbing, electrical, flooring, and more in addition to the cost of the kitchenette. If you’re putting a kitchenette in an already finished basement equipped with plumbing and electrical, you’ll save considerable money.
