"Ed and his team were excellent. They installed new siding on two gables and trim around windows, the roof line, and garage of our ranch. My husband and I love the look. The price was right compared to other estimates. They offer a variety of materials including vinyl, wood, and James Hardie siding. I forgot to include an item when getting the original estimate and they came out the next day and installed the trim right away. Would definitely use again!"

"

After a big wind storm a piece of trim from the peak of my roof had blown off. I tried to get a replacement piece at Lowes but found out it would require custom on site fabrication.

The $$$ signs flashed before me. And who would I get to do this little job. I kept an eye out for someone in neighborhood working on the neighbor's house. I got one name from an insurance adjuster. I called the guy and talked to him but he never showed up. Then I met Clancy inspecting my neighbor's roof. He was wonderful. He showed me paint chips to match the trim and said he would have someone make the trim for me and put it up. And so he did. It looks great. The crew was fast, friendly, and professional. I will be calling them when my roof needs replaced.

"Customer service was excellent. John and Joel were very helpful and knowledgeable. New exterior siding and trim covered. Louis’ crew was professional and knowledgeable. During final walk around found a defective vinyl siding piece and nails showing. They fixed the issue promptly. Clean up complete that day including dumpster and excess material. I recommend their service."

"Jamie Kuhn of Summit came to our home to look at potential damage and missing shingles. We already knew it was a small project but finding a contractor to do the job was a challenge as most of them have a minimum charge. My husband is approaching his 80s and climbing on a roof is not an option. We had the missing shingles and he went up on the roof to assess the damage. When he came down he told my husband he put the shingles back on and we should not have any additional problem .He did not want to be compensated and said he would appreciate if we would recommend Summit to anyone who needs a roofing or siding expert. His generosity of his time and expertise were greatly appreciated. We will go out of our way to tell everyone about Summit Building Roofing. Call them first you will be glad you did."

"I have had 3 roofs and siding and windows done by this company. The first roof done in 2021 was destroyed by the hail and tornado. It had to be replaced in 2022 along with siding repair, plus a little house I own across the street was also damaged and I had to replace the roof on the garage and house and all the siding, so while I was at it I had the windows replaced along with a door."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Engineered wood siding is still a relatively new type of siding, so it’s hard to say with certainty how long engineered wood siding will last. That said, homeowners should expect to get somewhere from 20 to 30 years out of their engineered wood siding, especially if they keep up with maintenance, including painting it every 10 years. Painting the exterior of a house costs an average of $3,150.

While bleach can be effective in killing mold, it may not fully remove mold stains from siding. Additionally, bleach can be harsh and may damage certain types of siding. It's recommended to use specialized mold cleaners or natural alternatives that are safe for your specific siding material as a part of your regular siding maintenance

Vines can cause severe damage to your siding. They can grow underneath and all around siding, which can cause it to pop off or split. Vines also trap moisture, which can damage siding by causing rot. The cost to replace siding may make you consider getting rid of the ivy or adding a trellis or lattice support for it to grow on instead.

Pressure washing shou sugi ban siding is generally not a good idea. The charring process used in creating shou sugi ban siding involves burning the wood's surface to achieve its unique appearance and enhanced durability. The charred surface is delicate, and pressure washing can easily damage it. Instead of pressure washing, you can clean it with a soft brush or broom to remove loose debris, followed by a mixture of mild soap and water applied with a soft cloth or sponge.

You should restain or refinish your home's cedar siding every three to seven years to maintain its appearance and ensure maximum protection. The precise frequency depends on several factors, including your local climate, the siding's exposure to severe weather like direct sunlight, rain, and wind, the quality of the initial stain application, the type of stain used, and the condition of the wood.

Homeowners in harsh climates with high humidity and significant direct sunlight should plan on restaining every three years, while those in milder locations can wait up to seven years. For the longest-lasting protection in particularly harsh environments, consider using an opaque stain.

If you're looking for a lower-maintenance alternative, vinyl or aluminum siding are options to consider. Although their installation cost may be higher, they don't require as much upkeep over time, which can provide more value, especially in areas with excessive rainfall or high humidity.
