"If you're looking for tree removal service, there is no need to look any further than Linger's Lumberjacks. I had estimates from three major tree companies, expecting a variety of price quotes, but they were all identical. I went with Linger's because they seemed to be the most responsive, and because of the great reviews they have on Angies List. I'm really glad I did. Linger's said they would do the job in three weeks, but they had it completed in two. The specific job was to take down four large dead trees (including a difficult situation of one partially fallen tree resting on top of another), plus trim a few other trees to below the power lines. They did part of the work on one day, and then came out about a week later with a different crew to complete the job. Both crews were professional, very competent, and committed to me being happy with the finished project. The only small glitch was my fault. When they were done, they asked me to look at the job to be sure everything was done correctly and to my satisfaction. I looked without actually walking into the woods, and didn't realize that two of the trees that I thought were going to be taken all the way to the ground were only taken below the power lines. There is no doubt they would have taken them all the way to the ground had I asked them to, and as long as they are no longer a danger to taking out my power lines, it really doesn't matter one bit. Like I said, that was my fault, not theirs, and even with that, I feel like they did way, way more than what I was expecting, and more than the other two companies said they would do for the same price. While they were here, two of my neighbors asked them to take a tree down for them, and they did that as soon as they were done with my job. Both of the neighbors said they were really happy with the job they did. Like I said, these guys are great, their service is exceptional, and next time I need work done, I won't even bother calling anyone else, I going right to Linger's Lumberjacks. You should too."

"Last winter my arborvitae hedge was badly damaged by heavy snow. This week Cory from Set Apart Tree service carefully pruned and trimmed it. Within one hour I was pleased to see it beginning to look attractive again. Using pruners and loppers (no chainsaw) he removed heavily damaged branches and lightened drooping branches so they could stand straight again. The hedge is now airy and natural, still high enough to provide privacy, and healthy enough to regain the strength needed to withstand the snow next winter. I have a garden growing alongside the hedge, planted with many perennial and annual plants. Cory was able to work without damaging them! I would use Set Apart Tree Service again."

"They removed a very large tree growing close to the house. The tree was taken down with no damage done to the house or the area around it. You can barely tell where their lawn friendly equipment ran. There wasn't even any sawdust on the ground when they were done cleaning up. We are very satisfied and will use them again. They are also very nice people who don't use vulgar language."

"Chris was excellent! I highly recommend. We had a problem with our front door, literally for years. It continued to get worse and worse until it became a real problem. Chris and I diagnosed the problem, and Chris fixed it beautifully. It is such a pleasure to have our door work as it did when it was installed. He was prompt and went above and beyond. I will definbitely utilize Chris in the future"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Peach trees grow to be about 25 feet, so keep this in mind for pruning as well. If you plan to DIY, you’ll need to be comfortable working on a ladder. Without pruning, peach tree branches can sprawl nearly as wide as the tree grows tall, so make sure to plan pruning sessions at least once per year in the spring for controlled growth. And if you’re working on a ladder, be sure to follow all safety precautions, especially if you’ll be dealing with falling branches.

Yes, healthy and well-placed large trees can boost property value by an average of 3% to 15%. They improve curb appeal, offer energy savings through shade and wind protection, and are often considered by appraisers during home valuation. On the flip side, removing dead or hazardous trees can also increase value by eliminating safety risks. For the biggest return, choose low-maintenance, native species that thrive in your climate.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

Any tree that needs to be pruned should be pruned to remove dead branches at least once a year. You may need to prune far more often if you’re trying to maintain a certain shape or to save a tree that suddenly becomes infected.

If you’re wondering why tree trunks are painted white in your area, it’s usually to prevent sunscald, a condition where extreme shifts in temperature can cause tree bark to split. Fruit trees are especially vulnerable to sunscald, so this treatment is worth considering if it’s something that affects your trees.
