"Russ and his wife was very knowledgeable and very professional. Very detail and showed us any problems or ways in winch it could be corrected. They were on time and did the inspection as if the home was for themselves. Russ and his wife explained everything where we were able to understand it. Without a doubt I will call Down Home to do my next inspection, will recommend to any one seeking a company to perform an inspection of their home. I told my realtor that they should add Down Home Inspections to the list of inspectors. The fee was very fair because they spent over 3 hrs inspecting and reviewing the findings. Then I was able to see the photos that they took of the inspection. Outstanding Job they deserve more the 5 stars"

Our leadership envisioned a better way to mitigate vapor intrusion: To mitigate vapors with newer technology that is cost effective, timely, provides instant results and is more energy efficient than any other product available. They saw a way to breathe life back into buildings plagued by soil vapor intrusion and to repurpose these buildings to better serve the communities they inhabit.

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Mitigation can take several days depending on home setup, equipment accessibility, and achieving effective diffusion system sealed efficiency.

The natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water can cause radon to appear in a home. The gas seeps into homes through cracks in foundations, walls, or floors, as well as through gaps around pipes or construction joints. Radon levels are influenced by soil composition, building materials, and ventilation. Poorly sealed or airtight homes can trap radon, allowing it to accumulate.

The lifespan of a radon mitigation system depends on the type of system and its maintenance. With proper care, a system can last for many decades. Passive systems tend to last longer as they have fewer components that require replacement. Active systems, which have more moving parts like fans, generally have a shorter lifespan. For instance, water filtration devices and active pressurization systems require more frequent maintenance. While the system as a whole is durable, the radon fan in an active system typically has a lifespan of 5 to 10 years and will need to be replaced. As long as the fan is working, the mitigation system should function correctly.

Your radon fan needs to operate 24/7 to be effective. The only time the fan isn't operating is during its replacement. Radon levels in the home can increase within hours if the fan stops working or something obstructs the stack vent. Fortunately, radon systems require no downtime maintenance between fan changes.

Use a radon test kit or hire professionals to conduct a detailed assessment of radon levels in your home.
