  This company is very amazing....so knowledgeable, kind, courteous and excellent craftsmen. We have a very large 3 story, 110 year old home with intricate wood detailing, many doors and decks, and hundreds of mullions around the entire exterior. This project took over 3 weeks and they worked every day, even some weekends. They never left a mess and did not leave until everything was perfect. They respected our home and our property.   THE HOME EXTERIORS TEAM DID A GREAT JOB ON THIS PORCH. IT USED TO BE A ROOM I AVOIDED BECAUSE I HATED TO LOOK AT THE OLD ROTTING WINDOWS & PEELING PAINT, NOW I'M OUT THERE AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. THE WINDOWS TAKE UP 2/3 OF 3 WALLS, SO THEY REALLY TREATED THIS AS MORE OF AN ENCLOSURE PROJECT IN SOME WAYS. THEY CARRIED THE TRIM OUT TO THE EDGES OF A SHINGLED 4TH WALL AND DID A VERY IMPRESSIVE JOB OF CAULKING THE SEAMS. I ONLY WISH THAT I HAD TAKEN ''BEFORE'' PICTURES, BECAUSE THE TRANSFORMATION WAS AMAZING. THE GUYS WERE VERY POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL & DIDN'T LEAVE A MESS. THERE WERE SOME PROBLEMS GETTING THE JOB SCHEDULED, BUT ONCE THE DATES WERE SET, THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME & FINISHED IN ONE DAYshow more

  This is the second time I worked with this company. In 2002, I lived in a much larger home with a very complicated roof and room additions. Home Exteriors did a total roof replacement and installed vinyl siding - it was a very difficult job and the work was well done. Complications arose within months due to bad storms and Home Exteriors responded immediately and rectified all the problems at no extra cost. It was because of that experience that I hired them again to do the work on a smaller home. My living situation had changed and even though this was an easier job I was more nervous as a new solo homeowner. I interviewed several contractors. Gary was not only charming and responsive but he was the most knowledgeable professional that I worked with the entire year which consisted of a number of other repairs and maintenance jobs involved in buying a home. Gary was extremely patient and maintained his sense of humor as it took me weeks to finalize the color and materials. His quote was in the middle range of other companies but since I had done some research and had past experience, I realized that many of the other contractors were telling me what I wanted to hear and misrepresented some of the materials in their estimates. Gary was also sensitive to my budget and accepted my need to only work on the roof since I had hoped to side the house as well. This was not the reaction of two other companies who not only registered their frustration but one company immediately increased his quote by $500. The workers were polite, timely, thorough, and accommodated my schedule. The job was very well done and considering this was one of the worst winters in years; I was amazed at how well the roof held up - no icicles; uniform formation and melting of snow - the house is even warmer - partially due to the crew modifying some of the insulation in the attic for better ventilation. By the end of the job, I had contact with many of the workers and staff at Home Exteriors - especially Dave - everyone was great to work with and while I'm sure my indecisiveness was not appreciated they never acted annoyed by my emails and messages.   It went very well! Mark was great to work with and very accommodating. The guys noticed a lot of rotten wood underneath the old gutters and told us about any unforeseen circumstance along the way, then checked with us as to how to proceed.

  The roof over the garage storage area was completely rotted. I had gotten several estimates before I came across Home Exteriors on Angie's list. One company said I should tear off the structure completely because he didn't know how to address the roof problems (it was an addition to the garage). Gary was confident that they could replace the roof without any trouble. Additionally, I had three skylights that leaked for years. Gary said his company specialized in skylights. So he included the replacement of the skylights in the roof job. One of the skylights was completely rotted due to improper installation. Home exteriors replaced the damaged wood and cleaned up what they found..black mold! The roof had three layers which was torn off and replaced. I also had new gutters installed. Once Gary notified me the job was finished. I took a look around and found a few things I wanted changed...mostly due to aesthetics. I sent him pictures of the items I wanted changed. He said.."No problem" and first the thing next morning his crew was back on the job! They stayed until I was completely satisfied. The crew was hard working, accommodating and did an awesome job with the clean up afterwards. One night they worked in the dark! I highly recommend Home Exteriors. Gary is very easy to work with and his price was very good. Thanks for a great job Gary and crew! 8/28/14-Update-a week after my new roof was installed we had an extremely heavy rain. As I was sitting in my family room I heard the dreaded...drip..drip. Yes, the roof was leaking..UGH. It started in the corner then traveled the length of a beam (cathedral ceiling). I immediately sent Gary a text of what was happening. He promptly returned my call and sent two guys out to see what was the problem. They looked at the area and said it was a gutter problem. That it was not sloped correctly. They removed the gutter and did a water test, however, the roof still leaked. So the next day they sent out a crew and removed that section of shingles and repaired that area, plus they re-positioned the gutter. The area that leaked was an addition to the original structure. I did advise Home Exteriors when I obtained an estimate that I had that area repaired a few years back but that it still leaked on occasion, hence one of the reasons for getting a new roof. While they have always been VERY responsive, I felt that the quality of work was not an "A" rating and lower it to "C" average. I realize anyone can make a mistake and they were very apologetic. Unfortunately, now I am concerned about the overall workmanship of the job. There hasn't been a heavy rain since so I don't know if it will happen again.show more
