"The estimate was a good discussion. He's an Arborist which was really helpful. The work was fast and the next day. The workers friendly and responsive to a request I made. They cleaned up the yard well. Looking forward to the stump-grinding which is scheduled. Thank you very much!"

"Excellent job. Consulted with me every step along the way. The team even picked up a stack of small branches and chipped them for me. Would definitely hire them again."

"I could not be happier with Vinecourt Landscaping. Jill was always on top of everything and kept me in the loop...They kept to the dates I needed for them to have the deck done and everything. I have actually found 2 other projects and will have Vinecourt do them, as I know and trust them completely!! Everyone in my new neighborhood LOVES the new deck, almost as much as I do!"

"They were delayed by a day do to issues beyond their control and kept me informed upon their arrival status, too.. But once they got here they did an excellent job for me. My neighbor came over a watched them work and hired them to stop by and take down a tree of his. I have passed their name to several friends and family members. I will contact them again when I need trees worked on again, or some landscape design I'll have done this coming spring."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

When a palm tree no longer produces new fronds and old fronds start turning yellow-brown, that’s a sign the tree is dying. However, transplanted palm trees can show these signs for the first several months as they re-establish themselves. It’s best to keep watering and not give up on the palm tree until a couple of seasons have passed and you’re sure it’s not coming back to life.

Generally, you’ll want to prune back the trunk by 1 to 2 feet each year to promote bushy growth. Doing so concentrates vegetative buds closer to the bottom of the tree, where you can easily harvest fruit. For side shoots that are a year old, leave at least six leaves.

Never remove more than 30% of a tree’s foliage during pruning—even if your tree is really overgrown. Removing this much foliage at a time could kill your tree.

You can find pruning paints and sealants for trees, but you shouldn’t use them on a topped tree. Coatings like these often inhibit the tree’s healing process. An important exception is if there are dangerous fungi nearby that the tree is particularly vulnerable to, like oaks and oak wilt. Sealing cuts can help prevent fungi from taking root.

In general, trees should be planted no closer than 15 to 20 feet from your foundation. For larger trees with far-reaching roots like maples, oaks, or poplars, a good guide is to plant as many feet from your home as the tree’s height is expected to reach at maturity. Some trees, like elms and willows, should only be planted far from where their roots may encounter sewer or water lines.

Palm trees aren’t much different than your typical tree removal. Removing a palm tree is a standard procedure as long as pros have the proper tools and supplies. For DIYers, however, there are some risks associated with palm tree removal. Palm trees have spiky fronds, bark, and patches of hefty wood. So, it’s best to let an experienced tree service pro remove a palm tree.
