"I actually had to call them 3 times before we could sell our house. We had some issues come up. I did used Angie's list for that one. Actually, I take that back they only came out twice. We were having water heater issues. We had to buy a new water heater from another company. Then, I couldn't replace the water heater because the floor drain was clogged. So we had to call them out again for the floor drain. I really liked them. I think their price is pretty reasonable."

"The little girl Rikki that came out to demonstrate the product was very courteous and friendly . She explained everything to me as she did it . Even the young man Eddie that hooked up everything for us was also very polite and courteous . He knew his job and did it well . They are a good company to work with if you have hard water like we did . Thank you Sunrush ."

"Mr. Swanson at JP Water came out to test our water as we had concerns about the iron and other contaminents in our well water. Mr. Swanson was very knowledgable about water chemistry and explained to us in great detail the best treatment options. He was back within the same week installing the system and he did a wonderful job on the install! The price we paid for this system was far less than other estimates we received and our water has never been this clean! Mr. Swanson has great communication and was a kind, honest person that explained the process of installation and maintenance very well. He even came out 14 days later to re-test our water and make sure we were happy with our purchase! Would Highly Recommend to anyone needing water treatment to call JP Water Solutions!"

"It went excellent.  He said I didn't need his services.  He told me what was wrong with each of the water issues I had in my basement, and he told me how to correct them myself.  I was very happy.  He was very honest, frank and helpful.  He spent close to an hour at my house, gave me great advice and didn't charge me a dime.

"The yearly service works out to be $50 a month. We've had two water heaters replaced through them because of a fault in them. They're usually very responsive. I like that I can request the service online. The only thing is, I wish that there was a better avenue for emergency services. If something doesn't work right away usually it takes a couple of days to get someone out and sometimes you can't wait two days without water."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

It depends on the type of surface. For instance, if you’re trying to get rid of hard water deposits on glass, you can spray vinegar onto the surface and wipe it off with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. However, if the deposits are on granite or natural stone, it’s better to use baking soda and water rather than vinegar or other acidic cleaners.

Soft water is better for your hair. The minerals in hard water can dry out hair, make it brittle, and leave a film on the hair and scalp that may cause irritation. Hard water also doesn't rinse out shampoo and conditioner effectively, which can lead to product buildup that makes hair look dull and limp. You may also find you need to use more shampoo to get a good lather in hard water.

The most effective way to fix hard water in your shower is by installing a whole-home water softening system. This system treats water as it enters your home, removing the minerals that cause hardness before they can reach your shower or any other fixtures. While this is the most comprehensive solution, other methods are often temporary fixes. For a more affordable and shower-specific option, you can install a water-softening showerhead or a shower filter. However, these filters are generally less effective and may not remove all the contaminants that lead to limescale and hard water stains. By implementing a water softening solution, you can expect a reduction in mineral deposits and enjoy the benefits of cleaner-feeling hair and skin.

The most accurate way to determine whether you have hard water is to purchase a water test kit from a hardware store or send a tap water sample to a lab. But there are some signs you can look out for without professional testing. For instance, if you're consistently dealing with mineral stains on your glassware, windows, and shower doors, you're likely to have hard water. Hard water can also make it harder to lather and rinse soap, so if you're struggling to work up a good lather in the shower, hard water might be the culprit.

Whether you need a license or permit for water softener installation depends on your location. Some municipalities require the installer to hold a plumbing license, while others may only require a permit and an inspection. In some cases, both a permit and a licensed installer are necessary, and some areas have no requirements at all. Often, only certified plumbers and electricians are allowed to pull the necessary permits. To find out the specific regulations in your area, you can contact your local building department. Alternatively, a local water softener installer or plumber will be familiar with the requirements and can typically pull the permits for you. Regardless of local laws, it is always recommended to hire a licensed professional to ensure the system is sized and installed correctly. You can use tools like Angi’s state licensing tool to verify an installer's license status.
