Small jobs welcome

"Ed has an incredible work ethic. I appreciated his knowledge and experience when it came to thoroughly cleaning and staining a huge deck that wraps around the back of my home. When he was finished it looked like a brand new deck. I will hire Ed again and I highly recommend him."

"Will is respectful, polite and listens to what you want done. My yard has a lot of fill dirt with some large rocks so it made it challanging. He also offered me some advice on how to clean the algae off my house which worked perfectly. Very happy with the deck."

"Handyman Matters did a great job of repairing very large hole in finished basement drywall including painting to match existing color.  Also installed vanity / sink / light fixture / mirror / baseboard / towel racks in bathroom plus painting the room.  Looks great, price was reasonable, and quality of work was very high.  The company was very efficient in producing quotes and meeting the promised schedule.

"This job was the result of a special offering.  My experience with other providers is that they come in and do what is minimally required and leave.  This was not the case with Affordable Painting.

They were punctual.  There was some confusions on who was to supply the paint and they had to go out to purchase it.  They made up the time they were gone.  They were thorough and professional.  They voluntarily sanded doors that were fought, which made a world of difference.  The workers never slacked off and made good use of their time.  The walked through everything with me to guarantee satisfaction.  They also cleaned up thoroughly.  I would use them again and highly recommend them."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Many composite decking manufacturers, including the popular Trex brand, offer warranties that protect against warping under specific conditions. These warranties typically last between 20 and 50 years, but they usually exclude claims related to improper installation of the product. Some manufacturer warranties only cover decks built by certified professionals.

The least expensive way to build a pool deck is with concrete deck blocks, pressure-treated lumber, and the appropriate hardware for hanging joists and securing deck boards. With these basic yet durable deck materials, you'll have a pool deck that's built to last without the high price tag. You should also stain or seal the deck to protect it against the elements.

Cold temperatures can make your deck boards contract. If they don’t contract evenly, they can put pressure on the deck screws and cause them to pop out, making a noticeable sound. Winterizing your deck can help prevent this from happening.

Pressure-treated decks last 15 to 20 years on average, but with proper maintenance, you could get 40 to 50 years of value from yours. Reseal your deck every one to two years, and replace old or rotted wood as soon as possible to avoid structural damage. Where you live plays a role in the lifespan of your deck. Intense sunlight, rainfall, wind, and hail can reduce the deck’s lifespan.

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.
