"He did a really outstanding job!  He did a lot of little extra things for us to make the house look better.  He took his time on everything.  He was on time and very courteous.  We had such a mess and he really did a nice job fixing everything.  He really went above and beyond.  He worked a lot of long hours to get our job done and we could not be more pleased.  I would highly recommend Tony and will absolutely use him again."

"This job was the result of a special offering.  My experience with other providers is that they come in and do what is minimally required and leave.  This was not the case with Affordable Painting.

They were punctual.  There was some confusions on who was to supply the paint and they had to go out to purchase it.  They made up the time they were gone.  They were thorough and professional.  They voluntarily sanded doors that were fought, which made a world of difference.  The workers never slacked off and made good use of their time.  The walked through everything with me to guarantee satisfaction.  They also cleaned up thoroughly.  I would use them again and highly recommend them."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Hangers are one way of attaching stair stringers to a deck. These metal hangers are usually adjustable, allowing you to find the ideal angle for a secure installation. They’re the best choice for installing longer staircases, such as one on a two-story deck, to reduce the load on the deck frame while keeping the stairs stable.

You typically don’t need a railing and handrails on a deck that’s less than 30 inches from the ground. However, consider adding them regardless. Railings provide additional safety for you and your guests who use your deck—plus, railings give the deck a more finished look than it would have without them.

Materials for a second-story deck must be weather- and rot-resistant, though the specific choices will largely be determined by your budget and style preference. Pressure-treated wood is on the lower end of the price scale, but it can be customized and stained the way you like it. Composite, on the other hand, is pricier for installation and has fewer options for customization, but you’ll save money and time in the long run because it requires little maintenance.

Your deck may look or feel fuzzy after pressure washing because the high-pressure spray tears some wood fibers as it removes the outer layer of dead and discolored wood. This fuzzy effect is a normal part of the pressure-washing process and will go away on its own in a few weeks. You can opt to spot-sand your deck if you’d like to remove it more quickly.

Building a deck isn't too hard if you’re handy with carpentry, have the necessary tools, and are willing to put effort into it. However, other factors, such as plans, permits, and design, can be hard if you don’t have experience in those areas.

Note: You’ll need another person to help you build the deck (especially for framing and setting the beams). Building a deck yourself will be very difficult if you don’t have an extra set of hands to help.
