The Fence Guy is a small, family owned business that has been in operation since 2008, and has been in the fence installation trade since 1986. ***We do NOT have sales people, YOUR ESTIMATE IS DONE BY AN INSTALLATION EXPERT. Every Time.*** The concept behind this is that you get what you want, the first time, every time. As it should be. **We NEVER TAKE A DEPOSIT ON JOBS** The simple concept behind this is we do not want your money until: (a)We have earned it, and (b) We have made the client happy with their purchase. We offer ALL styles of fence including privacy, picket, shadowbox, scalloped, convexed, split-rail, horse-fence, farm-fence, chain-link, ornamental aluminum and steel, guard-rail, barrier fence and just about any other type of containment available. We also offer REPAIR WORK on ALL styles of fences and gates. We work with Cedar and Pressure-Treated lumber and we buy from local suppliers, hand-picking your material for YOU. We offer MILITARY and SERVICE PROVIDER(Fire/Medic and Law Enforcement) discounts We offer SENIOR discounts **WE ARE CURRENTLY RUNNING APPROXIMATELY 2-3 WEEKS OUT ON RESIDENTIAL INSTALLATIONS, weather permitting.** **NOTE----- There have been reviews that have stated that we use sub-standard materials that warp. ANY lumber is susceptible to warpage, at any time. At the time of the sale, the customer is given several choices and price points accordingly. If you buy the least expensive product, you cannot expect it to perform like a top of the line product. We can and do warranty all of our workmanship/craftsmanship, but we have very little quality control over lumber beyond what we see when we purchase it. That being said, we will stand behind what we install within reason, based on the choices the customer makes at the time of the sale. Obviously, we want our customers to be happy with their purchase and their choice in us as their contractor! Keith---740-438-9135

"Raschke Concrete and Construction was hired to pour 2 concrete slabs and 2 transition pieces at our business (The Sandstone Retreat) totaling 14 yards on concrete for the price of $10,000. The owner Gabriel Raschke assured me that it would be no problem and that he could start next but he required half the money to get started. We told him that my wife and I got him name off of Angi's list but since we didn't know him we were only willing to give him 2,500 now and when he was finished with the forms we would give him a check for $5,000 to pay for the 14 yards of concrete. The concrete was supposed to be poured on Friday February 28th, 2025 so I took a personal day to supervise the job. Gabriel Raschke came Friday morning and informed me that the concrete will not be there until Monday March 3rd, 2025. I was not happy about this but if it had to be pushed back then it gets pushed back but I told him that I would not be on site that day. I instructed a good friend that was doing some work at the Sandstone Retreat that day to keep an eye on them and let me know how the concrete progress was going. The 1st concrete truck showed up around 12:45 on Monday March 3, 2025 and Raschke Concrete and Excavation started the concrete slab. I called my friend and was asking how the concrete was going. He informed me that they started so I said send me some pictures. He sent me some pictures and had some concerns about how it looked but I figured that it would be fine. My friend sent me more pictures about 20 minutes later and confirmed my concerns. I called my friend at the Sandstone and asked what was going on and he told me that it's not good. I sent Gabriel Raschke a text at 3:16 PM and asked what was going on but didn't get a response back from him until 6:37 PM saying that he is going to call the concrete company because they put to much calcium in the concrete and it set up to quickly. Gabriel called me and told me the whole story and said that there was too much Calcium in the concrete and he could get the job done because it set up to quickly. I told him that was not my problem and asked him how they are going to fix it. He said that he will put a skim coat of mortar on it and it would look good. I told him that won't fix the problem and that I want it all chipped out and removed."

Yes, you should confirm that the fencing installer you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. In most cases they do not need a specific fencing license, but rather a general contractor’s license. Hiring a licensed contractor protects you as a homeowner from fraud, poor work, and potential legal woes.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

The average cost to install a fence is between $1,760 and $4,500. These costs are what an average homeowner spends, but you might spend more or less depending on several factors. For a smaller DIY project, you might get away with spending as little as $430, or for a much larger project (like fencing for a 5-acre yard), you can spend in excess of $43,000.

Besides the size of your yard, other factors like your fence material, fence height, site prep, and additional fence features like gates all impact the overall cost. Additionally, the high cost of raw materials and manufacturing can all make the overall price tag higher.

Before you hire a fence installer to build you the fence of your dreams for your yard, it’s important to set expectations up front by asking questions. Some questions to consider include:

  • Do you offer a warranty?

  • Do you offer financing or a payment plan?

  • Do you have references?

  • Do you have photos of previous work?

  • What type of fencing materials do you work with?

Do you have references?

Are all fasteners exterior (galvanized)?

How deep are you concreting the post?

What is the lowest maintenance fencing?

How will you deal with slopes?

Only some fences require a permit to build. Factors like where you live, how tall your fence will be, and where in your yard you plan to build all impact the need to have a permit. Below are a few examples of when a permit is needed; it’s always best to check with your fence installer to confirm if a permit is required.

Generally, if you live somewhere rural, like on a farm, there’s a good chance you will not need a fence permit. However, you will most likely need a permit if you live in a highly populated area. In addition, many privacy fences in your backyard won’t need a permit if it is 6 feet or shorter. However, you might need a permit for anything over 3.5 feet in your front yard.

Any solid panels over 8 feet in height will require a permit, while a 2-foot lattice top on a 6-foot fence does not require a permit.

Fence installers typically charge by the hour when working on a project. Typically, you can expect to pay around $50 per hour for fence installation. Your project might take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours, depending on the length of your fence, overall project complexity, and fence type.
