"This company advertised their five star Velux rating, but I'm not impressed by ratings that seem to be self-serving. However, these guys earned their superior rating! They worked with me to get the right product, fully explaining all my options and the advantages / disadvantages of each. On the day of the install, professional installers showed up and explained everything they were going to do. The went right to work and did a great job. They cleaned up the entire workspace - inside and out. I am very pleased with my new skylights and solar tunnel. I would definitely use this firm again."
"They were able to replace the skylight in less than 2 weeks after the quote. They did a good job and make the finish on the inside look good. A few weeks later, there was a heavy rain and my new skylight is no longer leaking like my old one that was replaced."

"I received a glowing recommendation of RoofWise from my accountant & contacted them regarding a stubborn leak I've battled where the family room addition meets the original house. I also asked for a recommendation regarding ongoing garage leaks. Following a detailed inspection Roofwise provided me with an estimate which included work they recommended, as well as additional options addressing problems I hadn't yet dentified but were likely to cause problems in the future. I decided to go ahead with all the work and options, including replacing the skylights which were definitely showing signs of age. The garage was completed in a day, and a smaller crew worked the next 4 days completing the more labor intensive work. The workers were professional throughout, & made a number of additional repairs not included in the original estimate. Although the repairs were only recently completed, I have not experienced any further problems and would strongly recommend RoofWise for future roofing needs.
"The installation was amazing. They had all 15 replaced in a little over 4 hours. One gentleman replaced and the second followed behind, cleaning up and doing inside finishing. Three came back the next day to do outside insulation and trim. The windows are fabulous. My only problem has been getting the follow-up paperwork. I'm not terribly worried (at this point) because I am relying on their reputation to follow through."
"A1-Quality-Work! I had a small job on our roof and a few contractors came and gave quotes. Not only was Andrew's Roofing's quote reasonable, but they were pleasant, on time, and professional. What bothered me with most other contractors that they all seem to have found "sever problems" with the roof and offer their services to maintain and repair those problems. The interesting thing is that each roofer found different problems, and when asked about the other issues (that previous contractors found) they always said that that's not a concern. On the flip side, some roofers I've had out over the past 10 years thought it could be fixed with some very expensive caulk. Andrew's Roofing was the only contractor that thought that the roof was fine and didn't require expensive repairs. Our roof just needed some maintenance -- we had a couple small leaks around the chimneys. We had several contractors over the years caulk or re-flash around them but it never fixed the underlying issue. Andrew determined the problem required the shingles around the chimneys to come off and replaced the rotted wood underneath and installed ice and water shield all around the chimneys before painstakingly replacing the shingles. We haven't had any leaks since, and the roof looks great.
"They came when they said they were going to come. We had to change part of the project, but it still cost us what they had quoted us. They were great at working around my scedule."
"I was extremely impressed form start to finish. Punctuality and level of communication were beyond ennything I could have expected. Ac would show up at dawn and get the crew started and he woudl be back at dusk to inspect the work. The roof was installed flawlessly. When we discovered some rotted trim he was able to suggest the most economical and effective way to have it replaced and he had the gutters reattached properly as well all at an extremely reasonable price. What really impressed me was that two days later I thought I had a leak in the roof. AC and his forema were here within an hour of my call to inspect their work. I have not seen as much pride in workmanship in some time. It turned out that there was no leak. Some rain water had spilled on one of my large leafy potted plans and dripped off the leaves. We were all quite relieved. And he and the foreman But while they were here they identified a problem with one of the downspouts and fixed it. I would reccommend this company to all my friends for their work. The owner also has very good suggestions and ideas for dealing with issues. "
"Great! Chad did a wonderful job with the flooring. He brought samples to the house to color match. Installed all the flooring in a timely manner, working with my schedule. The floors look fantastic. We could not be happier with the complete project."
"We have worked with Brad Holbert with Hunter Construction Co., on a number of home renovation projects from 2002-2012. During this time, we have been extremely satisfied with both cost and quality, as well as Brad's integrity. Brad excels at project management and the orchestration ensuring that everything falls into place in a timely manner. Brad has incredible follow through and a great sense of urgency. He clearly understands a homeowners concerns and frustrations. Working with Hunter Construction, we never have to worry about loose ends. In fact, we used Hunter Construction's services to help us when we needed a new roof. We could of found a roofing company on our own through friends, but we knew that if a problem arose over time, we could always call Brad, and he would take care of it. Having had a problem in the past with shady workmanship and tradesman disappearing, engaging Hunter Construction Co., for this purpose gave us the added security of knowing we always had someone to call if a problem occurred after the work was completed. One of the greatest benefits of working with Hunter is Brad's temperament. Brad returns calls promptly and is always available. Brad is an excellent Handyman and is less than half the price of other handyman companies. We highly recommend Brad and his company, Hunter Construction Co. "
Yes, reputable manufacturers typically provide warranties for their roof windows and skylights, and many installers also offer a labor warranty, although labor warranties often don’t last as long as the manufacturer’s warranty. A warranty from a skylight manufacturer is helpful in the event of leaks or other damage down the road on this type of home feature. The length of time and the terms of the warranty may vary, so it's important to review the details before making a purchase.
This is based on personal preference, budget, and the vibe you are going for with your holiday lighting. If you are looking for the cheapest option, incandescent lights are a budget-friendly choice. You can also opt for sheets of lights that cover areas such as trees and bushes for easier installation.
Installation typically takes 1-2 days, depending on the required roof type and structural modifications.
An improperly installed skylight could potentially impact your roof's warranty. This happens because roofing penetration is necessary during skylight installation. Check your warranty information to verify. In most cases, having skylights professionally installed with proof that flashing is being done to specifications can be enough to preserve your roof's warranty.
Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.
