"JD did awesome work on repairing our drywall prior to a new backsplash install. The wall was in really bad shape but JD was able to patch it up to a smooth enough level, helping us to avoid a more complicated and invasive drywall replacement process. JD performed his work in timely fashion and and engaged me in nice convo. Speedy Patch would definitely get my business again."

"Christian responded the same day to my request for a free quote on our drywall project. He sent out his specialist, J.D., three days later to look at the damaged area. The following Wednesday J.D. completed a flawless repair in two hours. He created a smooth surface without any sanding and no dust, then vacuumed the area when he was done. Speedy Drywall Repair does excellent work, plus they are personable and professional. We will call them again with any drywall needs in the future."

"Everything was fabulous! The house looks and smells great. I would absolutely hire again and would be very interested in hiring them on a once-a-month basis. I appreciate the fact that Adrian wasn't constantly trying to sell me anything. I even had to ask for a quote for cleaning on a fulltime basis! Other companies that I have used spent most of the cleaning time trying to sell me future services, but this company is different. They are obviously dedicated to working hard and doing a good job. I'm very pleased and very impressed with the work that was done. FYI: This was a purchase through an Angie's List Deal."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Vinegar and bleach are effective options for removing mold from drywall. Vinegar is a better choice if you have a smaller mold issue while bleach is best if you have a larger mold problem. If the area you're cleaning has limited ventilation, using vinegar would be a better option. In that case, you could mix vinegar with baking soda to remove more stubborn mold growth.

Yes, applying a texture can hide minor imperfections and irregularities in drywall, but it will not cover significant damage like nail marks or screw holes. The best texture depends on the size of the flaws. For minor imperfections, popular choices like orange peel, sand, or popcorn texture are effective. For larger imperfections, you may need a more prominent style, such as a knockdown or trowel finish, to conceal them effectively.

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.

In some minor cases, you can DIY drywall repair with minimal time and money spent. This method is best when you have a hole made by a singular problem, such as accidental furniture moving, and not a continuous problem, like a rodent infestation.

Knowing what product to use is crucial. For example, small holes only need spackle, whereas large holes might need a new piece of drywall. You can flex your DIY abilities on this project, but if you’d like a second opinion or have a more significant problem, it’s best to call in a drywall repair pro.

You can repair plaster ceilings yourself after the cause of the ceiling damage has been addressed. However, the repair can easily take 5 hours and can be slightly challenging for those without previous experience. If you do decide to flex your DIY muscle, have a helper to help hold the ladder and pass you the tools for safety purposes.
