Customers say: Super punctual

"Codey and his crew showed up on time. They were friendly and respectful. The Ramsey & Family Tree Service got down to businees and removed a leaning large pine tree from going down on my neighbors house. They were professional and quick! I would highly recommend these guys to anyone!!!! I plan on having them do more work in the future. They were reasonably priced too! Stevie Callahan"

"Lucky Tree Service did a great job trimming and thinning two trees. One of them is a large Norway Maple that had been dropping many branches. Jimmy, the owner, was very knowledgeable about how to correctly trim the trees, especially the Norway Maple. The Lucky Tree Service crew cut both trees very strategically. Both trees were thinned out well and allow the sun to hit the yard a lot more, and both trees are beautiful. They have never looked this good."

"They removed a very large tree growing close to the house. The tree was taken down with no damage done to the house or the area around it. You can barely tell where their lawn friendly equipment ran. There wasn't even any sawdust on the ground when they were done cleaning up. We are very satisfied and will use them again. They are also very nice people who don't use vulgar language."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You can find pruning paints and sealants for trees, but you shouldn’t use them on a topped tree. Coatings like these often inhibit the tree’s healing process. An important exception is if there are dangerous fungi nearby that the tree is particularly vulnerable to, like oaks and oak wilt. Sealing cuts can help prevent fungi from taking root.

The best tools for tree removal include a chainsaw for large trees, an ax for notching and cutting down small trees, and a wedge to help control the direction a tree falls in. A hatchet can be useful for very small trees, but won’t be effective for medium to large trees.

There are a few general rules to follow that will help you prune your trees correctly. One of the most important rules is to prune during the correct season for the type of tree you have. Typically, pruning should be during late winter. For younger trees, you should not remove more than a ⅓ of the tree's crown when pruning. Also, remember to remove dead and diseased branches first, then proceed with pruning the rest of the tree.

Generally, you should prune around 20% of an apple tree’s growth—and never more than 30%. This means that if you have a severely overgrown tree, it can take a few seasons to prune it back enough to produce the healthiest fruit.

If you’re dealing with a newly planted or juvenile tree, hold off on pruning beyond the initial shaping. Wait at least a couple of seasons into fruit production since pruning can increase the number of water sprouts and unproductive foliage.

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.
