Small jobs welcome

"We had an excellent experience with Leo from A&W Drywall and highly recommend him! We we're contacted very quickly after posting for the project and had an estimate and schedule the same day. His work is meticulous and clean. Leo took great care to prevent any dust outside the work area. When he left, you couldn't tell he had been here!"

Customers say: Quick response

"I do not usually complete surveys or share my experiences, but in this instance I am compelled. Without really knowing where to start, I can say that I was very fortunate to have received the initial call from Franks. My project is an 110 year old building and nothing is straight or level. I was left high and dry without a drywaller and a time frame that would not allow a 4-6 wait period for another company to schedule me. It just so happened that Franks had just finished another project and had a window that they could fit me in. The same day (Sunday) I received John s call, he was there within hours to measure. The next morning they were hoisting drywall thru the upstairs window. John was on site the next day at 7AM and every day thereafter at that time until the job was done. He glued and screws, shims, takes his time and yet works efficiently. His helper has been with him for years and shows near equal ability for detail. They work well together and move along at a persistent pace...each day showing accomplishments. I don t think they stop much for breaks or lunch. The joke was that I was developing separation anxiety because I knew I was going to miss them both. If you allow it, they will leave you as friends. There is no doubt in my mind that the work was quality and the price VERY fair! Nor do I have any doubts that anyone else would experience the same...that is, if you are fortunate enough to receive their call. I move from project to project and hire company after company in all the trades. I do much of the work myself so I know what is involved and can identify hurried sloppy work when I see it. You will not see that with Franks. I am so happy to have met them and so thankful that this old building received their luv of what they do. 👍"

"I had a sunroom framed and sided. Unfortunately the company that I had hired, doesn't do electrical or plumbing. I was supposed to have the electrician out, and call the company back to finish the room. Their electrician quoted $2500 just to install 1 light fixture, and 3 wall outlets. Alldun ran the wire and installed 4 can lights, a switch, and 3 outlets for around 1/2 of the price. Passed inspection today, on to the next step!!"

"Rick's work was top notch. I could tell he cared about how the repair would go and if it wasn't perfect, or to his satisfaction, he would not stop until it was! Rick was the first ever contractor to call me back if/when he would be running a little late. He even took the time and care to be mindful of the mess he was making and he cleaned up! I honestly wish I had more project for him!! I am recommending him to everyone/anyone I know that needs plaster/drywall repair."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

Yes, you can use drywall repair techniques for some types of plaster damage. Tiny holes and small cracks in plaster can be patched in similar ways to drywall. You apply the necessary compound to fill the hole, wait for it to dry, then sand it down. For larger damage, like water damage or mold, you need to use plaster-specific techniques and materials.

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.

Metal corners, often referred to as corner beads for square corners, are used on drywall installations to provide structural reinforcement to vulnerable outside corners. Their usage safeguards against chipping, denting, or other forms of damage, enhancing the overall durability of the wall. Metal corners also offer a precise and straight edge that facilitates sharp and clean lines, crucial for achieving a polished and professional finish.

If you don’t have studs in the area where you want to install your TV mount, you may still be able to install a TV mount on drywall. The easiest way to install a mount on drywall is by using drywall anchors—but not just any plastic anchors. Choose molly bolts or toggle anchors, which have a weight capacity of around 50 pounds. For added support, consider pairing drywall anchors with a wall mounting plate. Extra heavy TVs may need to be mounted via the ceiling joists or beams.
