What you do with excess concrete depends on the amount you have left over. For large amounts of excess concrete, you can rent a dumpster from a company that specializes in concrete disposal. Another option is to take your leftover concrete to a landfill or transfer station—just make sure you call your preferred location first to make sure they accept concrete.

For concrete that’s under 3 inches thick, use a crowbar or a wrecking tool like a sledgehammer to pry the concrete, starting at the corners and working toward the center. You’ll need a jackhammer to break up concrete that’s over 3 inches thick. Do your homework if you use a jackhammer; you’ll need full protective gear that includes a hard hat, safety goggles, and steel-toed boots.

Vinegar has become popular because it’s wallet-friendly, easy to find, and sounds like a great alternative to harsh chemicals and expensive machinery. An easy way to cut concrete pavers without a saw is to use a hammer and chisel. You can make a few passes over your paver with a hammer and chisel to make a fissure where you want the paver to break. Once the divot is about 1/8 inch thick, drive the chisel hard into the center of the line to complete the cut without using a saw.
