"The whole process went great from the time that I called John to come for an estimate through completion of the job.   He always called back immediately and was always on time which is very important to me when dealing with anyone.  When John came to look it over and give me the estimate, he also gave me lots of pointers on how to deal with preventing the wetness coming into my basement and how to check if my downspout drains are working before putting the new downspouts into them.  The morning the crew came to start the roof, they showed up on time and got immediately to work with ripping the shingles off and the new roof was in place by around 3:30 that afternoon and the guys were there putting the gutters on the house.  Everything was completed and cleaned up by about 5:00.  The whole crew works very efficiently, gets the job done, everything looks great and I couldn't be happier with all of it..  I would definitely use them again and recommend them.

"This company provided excellent workmanship and demonstrated professionalism throughout the entire process. They went above and beyond by also installing extra accessories that I purchased for the gazebo. I would definitely recommend their service."

"The arrival was prompt and he got right to work.  It took less than three hours for him to strip the old finish and to complete the new one.  It looks beautiful.  The entire process was very quiet, and the smell was minimal.  He left the bathroom and hallway as clean as it was when he arrived.  He provided me with care instructions and verbally discussed them as well.  It was a good price before the coupon on Angie's list, but that was the icing on the cake.  I would certainly use Tri-Star in the future, and I have already recommended them to a family member.

"Matt is very knowledgeable in all aspects of building/carpentry, he built a very solid 15x13 kitchen addition from the ground up that will be sure to remain solid for decades to come and he is also very meticulous about details and it shows in his exceptional cabinet building skills as well as finish/trim carpentry. Matt takes pride in his work and it shows at the end of the project. You will not be disappointed in his work. He also built a 2 1/2 car garage, and a 18x 20 living room addition 12 yrs ago at my previous house. Highly recommended"

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

British architect John Nash is credited with creating the Italianate style of architecture. The style was further popularized in the U.S. by landscape architect Andrew Jackson Downing and architect Calvert Vaux. The style spread across the U.S. due to Downing’s popular book on the style and the availability of plans and materials due to the mass production of the Industrial Revolution.

Most towns and cities have regulations regarding sign dimensions for businesses. If you're opening a new business, contact the town or city's local zoning board to see the specifications you need to follow when getting your sign created. There may also be rules regarding how high your sign can sit. Be sure to learn about specifications before having your sign made. Sign companies generally won't offer refunds once custom signs have been fabricated.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

An architect is usually involved in the process of determining the layout and structural features and requirements of the home itself, taking into account the local codes, climate, and materials needed to make the home structurally sound. Architects may communicate more with contractors and subcontractors throughout the building process. In comparison to architects, interior designers typically focus on the aesthetics of a home interior and possibly exterior, helping the homeowner decide on color schemes, textures, and materials to incorporate into the design.

Italianate architecture is a reinterpretation of Renaissance styles, combining elements of Italian farmhouses and villas with Victorian materials and construction. This home style emerged in the Victorian era, gaining popularity in the U.S. in the mid-to late-1800s. The style came about in response to what many then viewed as the too-rigid and stuffy Classical style designs.
