"It went great. They could have had a serviceman at my location within an hour. Instead the serviceman, Joshua, called to make sure I needed the service and approximately what it would cost to repair it. Instead, Joshua knew what the issue was and told me how to repair it myself. It's not so much that I got away without paying a minimal service charge, it's that I found a contractor I could trust. They will be my go-to locksmiths from now on."

"I called Fast Response late in the afternoon, and the technician came within the hour, after 6:00 pm. He fixed the locks in the front door until new ones could be secured. He promptly followed up with me to schedule an appointment to install new locks, and did a great job with the installation for a very reasonable price, much less than the advertised prices of other locksmiths. He even tightened the hinge on my door! I am going to have him back to replace locks on back door."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s possible a burglar can get through a deadbolt. Some types of deadbolts are harder for an intruder to get through, though. For example, a single-cylinder lock only requires breaking a window nearby and simply turning it. While other locks, such as a double-cylinder lock, may offer greater protection and make it harder for an intruder, no deadbolt is 100 percent effective.

Lubricating a door lock is an important part of door lock maintenance. It involves taking the lubricant of your choice (it’s best to use whatever the lock’s manufacturer suggests) and spraying it directly into the keyway. Push and pull your key in and out of the lock to make sure it’s all the way in.

One of the best tools for removing a stripped bolt is a handy pair of locking pliers. Locking pliers can usually grip onto screws with a broken, rounded, or stripped head and lock in place so that you can loosen even the most stubborn bolt that would otherwise remain hopelessly jammed.

Locksmiths offer keyless entry systems, high-security locks, panic bars, electronic access control, and biometric security solutions.

Rekeying door locks yourself costs a fraction of what you would expect to pay a locksmith. On average, it costs between $50 to $100 to hire a local locksmith to rekey your house, though labor costs may vary based on where you live. For a DIY solution, you can expect to spend $11 to $25 on a rekeying kit.
