"Chris with Friesen Family Renovations, LLC was very professional and thorough in the work he has completed. He installed a new screen door, replaced my tub stem and faucet, repaired my subfloor in the kitchen and installed brand new LVP flooring to replace old and water damaged flooring. He also mounted a television for me, and did some drywall repairs as well. I would recommend this business to anyone looking for quality and dependable work!"

"Rick's work was top notch. I could tell he cared about how the repair would go and if it wasn't perfect, or to his satisfaction, he would not stop until it was! Rick was the first ever contractor to call me back if/when he would be running a little late. He even took the time and care to be mindful of the mess he was making and he cleaned up! I honestly wish I had more project for him!! I am recommending him to everyone/anyone I know that needs plaster/drywall repair."

Small jobs welcome

"Kirty is by far the best all around contractor that you could hope to find. We were lucky enough to have him as a sub-contractor on our bathroom remodel and the work he did spoke for itself. Needless to say when it was time for our next project (deck rip off and patio install) I knew who to call without calling anyone else, he was our guy. He does honest work at honest prices and he actually cares about what he's doing for you. He treats each project like it's his own home and is way harder on himself if something isn't right than we could ever be. We have already started discussing our next project of finishing our basement and he knows the job is his......I don't give reviews often but when I do it's because they are well deserved and Kirty is definitely worthy of my time in giving him the full gratitude he deserves for the help he has provided me and my family with the work he has done for us in improving our home! Thanks KIRTY!!!!"

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

While it’s most common to sand plaster dry, it is possible to wet-sand plaster, too. Doing so can reduce the amount of plaster dust released into the air and make it easier to work in smaller, more delicate areas (such as around wall trim). However, some people find that wet sanding leads to more imperfections, which is why larger walls are more often dry sanded to ensure an even finish.

Only use spackle on plaster walls when the imperfection is small. It’s best used for nail holes or small dings in the plaster. Spackle dries quickly, allowing you to continue the repair process shortly after using it. Plaster can be tricky to repair, though, so if you run into issues, call a pro so that you don’t risk further damage.

Professionals diagnose underlying causes, such as structural shifts or moisture problems, and apply appropriate solutions like reinforcement, patching, or sealing. These measures restore wall integrity and prevent recurrence, ensuring long-term stability.

The tool you use to sand plaster will depend on the size of the project. If you’re just working on a small section of your wall to get rid of an uneven spot on the surface, hand-sanding might work. However, for larger projects, a drywall sander can make a huge difference when it comes to both time and elbow grease—and an orbital sander can help for detailed areas such as around ceiling fans.
