"Jonathan was super prompt in all his responses to my questions I had before contracting with his company to install the window.  I have wanted on for years since my Mom lives in my lower level.  There was not anyone out there I felt I could trust.  It is a serious decision to have someone cut into your foundation below ground level.  I was so worried about leaks and compromising my foundation.

I found Jackson Egress Windows on Angie's List and no one had a bad thing to say about them.  I was impressed.

I was even more impressed with the work they did.  I had them install the window and also do the trim around it.  James did a fantastic job.  There was no mess.  They put down plastic to protect the carpet and were so careful.  It was completed in a day!  It looks great and my Mom loves it!  Now I can sleep at night and not worry about her being trapped in her room if we had a fire.  Plus, it adds value to the home.

Does it leak?  NO!!!  It has been two months now with HEAVY rain and NO LEAKS!  They did a great job.  They were very professional, polite, and considerate.  Jackson Egress Windows is a company that is reputable, honest, and has a great crew of employees!

I will definitely use them again!

"We replaced the windows in our 1933 home through the services of MadCity Windows. From the initial contact with their sales representative to final installation, the company provided top notch professional work. With the draft from the old windows and the cold of the glass, we are already saving on our energy bills. Our house had old, large windows, so they had to be custom made. As an industrial designer and interior designer, we find our windows to be of excellent quality."

"Team from Power completed the work on time and cleaned up well after work was completed. Windows were measured correctly so replacement windows fit perfectly and were quality Pella windows versus no-name windows offered by other vendors."

"A little more time was needed to complete the work than was first anticipated. Some damage to the shrubbery in front of the house occurred during removal of the old roofing materials, but it was minor. At one corner of the house, a leak developed during a heavy rainstorm after the work was first completed. The leak was promptly repaired with the addition of some extra flashing. A very small area over a bay window had to be redone, when the underlying structure, installed by the original builder, was found to be inadequate to support a good roof line. Newlook removed the first roofing they had installed and replaced the sheeting, adding additional support members, before roofing the area again. Several lengths of the drip edge had to be redone when it was pierced in several places by nails that missed the wood along the fascia. Three other parts of the drip edge were reinstalled when we complained about sloppy miter joints. Newlook corrected all the issues we pointed out to them."

"Matt was very kind and very professional. His attention to details was top notch. My windows were so clean that it didn't look like a window was there. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs windows done plus he was very affordable"

"Will use Harrington Pro-Clean again. Job was to clean windows on a small Cape style house. The cost was the minimum, $275. Windows were perfectly clean. I thought he was done, but he said he should do more as it was such a quick job. So he power washed the front walk. Just 'cuz."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Drafts, condensation between panes, difficulty operating, or visible frames or glass damage are signs of needed repairs.

Casement windows are safer against intruders than double-hung windows because they are extremely difficult to pry open from the outside. However, if you’re concerned about young kids or pets, double-hung windows have safety features you might prefer. With double-hung windows vs. single-hung or casement windows, you can lock the bottom sash and open just the top sash to keep children and dogs or cats safe.

Not every home needs window capping. Whether or not you need to cap your windows depends on your climate and window frame materials. Wooden windows should have window capping if moisture is a problem. Arid climates like the Southwest may not need window capping due to low rainfall and low humidity.

If you don't have hurricane shutters or impact-resistant windows, boarding up windows before a hurricane is worth it. According to the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, protection is essential for all your home's entry points, including windows, doors, skylights, and garage doors.

When windows break, wind enters your home, creating enough pressure that could cause the weakest part of your to rupture. Often, the weakest part is the roof, which can "pop" off of a home in a hurricane. The simple act of boarding up your windows can protect the structural integrity of your house.

Installing energy-efficient windows costs between $325 and $2,000, averaging about $400 per window. You’ll have to consider cost factors like the window’s size, frame material, and type. Labor costs in your area will also impact the overall cost of the project, with window installation professionals charging about $40 per hour on average. Different types of energy-efficient windows include:

  • Single-hung: $150–$2,500

  • Casement: $150–$600

  • Double-hung: $250–$3,000

  • Picture: $200–$650

  • Bay: $480–$1,920
