Your toilet handle might not come back up if the nut is loose or the bolt threads are stripped. Try to tighten the mounting nut and wrap plumber’s tape around the handle bolt to fix stripped threads. It’s possible the handle was improperly installed. If that’s the case, you can use the instructions above to correct the handle’s position. 

You can stop a leak with plumber’s tape, but it’s not a recommended way to repair a leak. To install it, you have to dismantle the plumbing connection, apply plumber’s tape, and then re-install the pieces.

The size of the pipe you use for your shower depends on the part of the shower you’re installing. Shower drainpipes have a 2-inch diameter, and the water supply lines (both hot and cold) have a ½-inch diameter. You may want to slightly increase the size of the vertical pipe if you have dual showerheads. Check the local building code prior to installation for guidance.

There are several signs that can indicate you have air in your pipes, including unusual noises coming from the pipes, like banging and whistling, and inconsistent water flow and pressure. Spitting from the faucet right when you turn the water on is another indication that you might have air in the pipes.

The nice thing about outdoor water spigots is they last on average 10 to 20 years, depending on the model that you have. If you do happen to see any type of issue outside of that range, investigate the cause and what needs to be fixed to prevent further damage to your pipes or your home.
