"Dave is a great plumber. Dave is also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He even brings cookies at Christmas time. Does your plumber do that? I am always pleasantly surprised when I receive his bill. Owning a 100 year old home brings different challenges. Dave is a master at 100 year old plumbing."

"We had a stopped up toilet in our duplex rental in early February. We were notified at 3 pm. I researched plumbers in our area a replacement for our usual plumber who was unavailable. I called WyattWorks Plumbing and spoke with Shawnica who calmed me down, was friendly and professional. They were able to come out that evening. Ryan made short work of the blockage and our tenants were thrilled. When we had a blocked toilet in our home and a slightly leaking hot water faucet, we again contacted Shawnica. She told us that she'd keep in touch with us, which she actually did! Bryan Barnes came first thing Monday morning and was a great person to work with. He inspected everything and gave us 4 options to choose from which went from repairing the toilet and replacing the faucet so it would work to replacing the toilet & the faucets. We chose to repair the toilet and replace the aqua seal faucet but not the lines & hardware (another project). Bryan had everything repaired and running in an hour. He was so professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. He did a great job on the plumbing part as well as cleaning up. Shawnica, was wonderful as well she was great about working with us to schedule the appointments. We will not use our usual plumbing company (who we have used for several years) again but we will use WyattWorks for all of our plumbing needs and we would highly recommend this company for your plumbing needs as well!!"

"Everything went great! We tried to see if we can fix the problem but we were unsuccessful. So we got on Angie’s list and we hired Mr. Rooter Plumbing. The technician came in, found the problem and fixed it right away. We will most definitely hire Mr. Rooter Plumbing for any of our plumbing needs. Thank you so much Mr. Rooter Plumbing Service for helping and fixing our hot water tank problem."

"For the last 26 years we've lived in a house that is now almost 60 years old. The contractor built it as cheaply as possible and the plumbing has always been problematic. We've used other local plumbers who were very good, but Allen Drain Service is the best of the bunch. On both occasions they arrived on time and were in and out within 45 minutes. Very friendly and professional guys. Cleaned up afterwards and gave us tips on how to minimize problems in the future. They charged what seems to be standard in our area for this type of service. I hope I don't have to use them again, but I know it's not a case of "if" but rather than "when." So. when it is necessary to clean out the drains again, they'll be who we call! Recommend them highly. (Angie's List members get a $5 discount.)

"Tri-County Electric Services was able to send a plumber out the next day to provide estimates for a few projects in my home. Chris M. arrived at my home and was professional, knowledgable, straight forward, and friendly. He quoted me fair prices to install a new toilet and new kitchen faucet, both of which I had previously purchased independently and had at home ready to install. I was very happy that he was able to complete the installs that day. He also fixed a minor leak below a bathroom sink. All around a great experience! I will definitely hire them again for future plumbing needs. Chris explained that the company recently added a plumbing division to complement their electric services. Thank you for a job well done!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

A major mistake during plumbing work in Berea is connecting new copper or PEX directly to heavily corroded galvanized steel, which accelerates joint failure. Homeowners also install outdoor pipes without accounting for the 36-inch frost line, leading to severe freeze damage. Attempting DIY drain clearing without a camera inspection completely misses underlying clay tile collapses. Always pull required permits and verify local water pressure before installing new fixtures.

Helpful?

Water pooling along basement walls after a heavy Ohio rain points to foundation seepage rather than a plumbing leak. True pipe leaks appear directly near fixtures. If your basement drain backs up exclusively during severe storms, you face a municipal storm sewer overload, not an internal pipe failure. Summer puddles near HVAC equipment indicate a clogged condensate line. Hire a licensed contractor to properly diagnose and resolve the exact issue.

Helpful?

Start by securing all required municipal permits to prevent project delays. You must verify your contractor holds an active OH license before work begins. For outdoor plumbing, state law requires calling 811 at least two days before digging to locate underground utilities. Schedule major outdoor repairs between late spring and early fall to avoid severe winter weather. Finally, check municipal records for any lead service lines on your property.

Helpful?

Slow drains in older Berea homes indicate deteriorating clay sewer laterals or root intrusion. If your water runs brown after minor plumbing work, advanced galvanized pipe corrosion requires a whole-house replacement. Intermittent sewage odors without visible backups point to a cracked sewer line allowing hazardous gas infiltration. Sudden water pressure drops signal a developing leak in your main service line. Address these warning signs immediately with a licensed professional.

Helpful?

Older Berea homes built before 1978 contain lead pipes and galvanized steel. Disturbing these materials during plumbing work releases dangerous particles into your water supply. Always flush your taps thoroughly after any repairs. You must also install backflow prevention devices on outdoor hose bibbs to protect pets drinking from the yard. Schedule open-wall repairs outside of winter to prevent freezing hazards. Always hire local professionals to ensure safe, inspected connections.
