"I am amazed that one person tackled the job of adding a new floor covering in my small bathroom. He did a beautiful job, cleaned up afterward, and left me with a new bathroom effect. Now I am considering doing something to the color of my tiles and getting a new shower curtain to complete the look."

"Floor looks amazing even a month later.  Lead installer was great but the young man he brought with him left much to be desired.  He was clearly hung over and spent an inordinate amount of time in my restroom.  He also took too many breaks opting to "watch TV" with me rather than help lead installer.  Love the installer and the floor.  His assistant, not so much."

"I hoped to get the flooring in over half of my house replaced before a party I was planning a month away. Rob made several trips to my home to show me carpet and linoleum samples before I made my choice. When the supplies came in, we chose a starting and finishing date. All promises were kept, the house looked great for the party and the price came in below the quote because the much of the sub floor was in better shape than expected. There was one minor issue in that I wanted the linolium to extended a couple of feet from the kitchen into the living room where there is a lot of traffic. They extended it a few inches further than I expected, so they made the correction without any problem or hassle. This is the second time I used this company as I had the master bedroom carpet replaced three years ago by them. I would highly recommend them.

"I knew that Danny was the one I wanted to do my kitchen when he came to give me an estimate. He had great ideas, many options, reasonable pricing and was very personable. Whenever I called him he always returned my calls. Danny and his right hand man, Dominic, make a great team. They both took great care to do everything to perfection. Danny helped me pick out cabinets and flooring. He sent me to wonderful people to pick out granite for the countertops and tile for the backsplash. When I wasn't sure about the tile, Danny even met my husband and I on a Saturday to help us figure it out and select something that we would love. He put in extras like a pull out garbage cabinet, a wonderful cabinet that holds my heavy electric mixes and brings it up to counter level when I need to use it. I have pull out drawers and a two shelf lazy susan to maximize the space in a corner that would otherwise just be wasted. The kitchen has an opening by the sink that looks out into the family room. Danny used matching wood to the cabinets and created a molding, along with a wonderful light fixture, to create a beautiful area that enhances the kitchen. He extended the tile backsplash on either side of the opening and put granite on the bottom. Danny added an island with many pull out shelves, large and small, to give me much more storage. The island is amazing and greatly adds to the kitchen. Dominic is an expert electrician who made sure I had ample outlets and wonderful under the cabinet lighting. Danny is an expert plumber who added a water filter, as well as an instant hot that matches the faucet. Because he is such a good guy, he even fixed a problem in our bathroom that had nothing to do with the kitchen remodeling. Absolute Kitchens and Baths is a first rate company. I will absolutely use them again."

"We are very pleased with our custom bathroom remodel that was completed by ceramic surfaces. They did an excellent job from start to finish. We were undecided about a few things & Carl was very knowledgeable & gave several suggestions/ideas to choose from. They were prompt, courteous, understanding, and very reasonably priced. They are a local family owned business that I will definitely use again for all my remodeling projects."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Tiles last for around 100 years or more. Tiles on backsplashes can last even longer since they’re less likely to crack under foot traffic or from accidental drops, but even tile in high-traffic flooring can last a century or more with proper installation and upkeep. Porcelain tiles are denser and stronger than standard ceramic tiles, so they’ll last longer, often pushing past the 100-year mark.

Yes, but you’ll have to use some other type of tool to avoid damaging the tile and possibly injuring yourself. Some alternatives to tile cutters include a glass cutter, angle grinder, and wet saw. Depending on the tile material, you might simply be able to measure and score it with something sharp, like a carbide-tipped pencil, and break it off. Be sure to sand the edge for a smooth installation.

Whether you want to match your tile trim with grout comes down to your personal preferences. If you match the two, it can help your tiles to stand out while providing a clean, cohesive look. On the other hand, you might opt to match your tile trim with your tiles. The best option will depend largely on your tile design, as well as how it fits overall with the rest of your room.

The underlayment determines a ceramic tile’s sturdiness, and a cement board or backer board works best. Be sure to tape the joints when using these materials, and consider laying it on top of a layer of thin-set for more stability.

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.
