"This company came highly recommended. They seem very knowledgable and environmentally conscious. We have been pleased with their work. There have been a couple of small things that are annoying. Once, the service provider called my cell phone and left a message, but never rang the bell. We were home and he could have saved us all significant effort. Another time, someone came out for a problem, but the work order did not detail the specific problem we had called about. Again, a small problem, but he wasted his time investigating something that was already being addressed and then having to refocus on the problem at hand.

"When they started the project, the concrete which was already cracked, seemed to be coming up pretty well.  When that was removed, they found a lot more gravel under the concrete than they anticipated so it was an additional time and expense to remove that.  The garage sill had to be repoured and they began installing the correct type of gravel and pounding down the base.  Being  April, it rained a lot in there and it slowed the progress as you can imagine.  Can't do much about the weather.  I also had some blocks on my garage foundation that were loose so they refilled the mortar to stabilize the foundation. This is when we found that the gutter drain pipes were broken and clogged.  They installed new piping and we cleaned out the remaining pipes before installing the pavers.  By having the "O" in the middle, it made for a lot more cuts and took some additional time but it was worth it.  They sealed the driveway and finally they installed the sod around the edges.  Along the way Jake had to deal with a major personal issue but handled it very well.  Jake and his crew did a very good job and handled all the little things that came up very professionally.  I don't know of any other contractor who would have worked with me the way they did.  In my opinion, they provided me with a great finished product and I would use them in the future.

"We could not be happier with the work that JD Lindsay did. Their craftsmanship is impeccable, and they were wonderful people to be around. Darren Lindsay, the owner, came out and designed the work that was to be done. As the project went on, he was creative in changing the plan to make it a better fit for our home and our needs. He did not charge us a single penny over for the changes he made, and I'm sure the changes were more expensive. I would highly recommend Darren to anyone who is looking at adding a patio or deck to their home. As far as contractors go, he was one of the best I have ever worked with. Communication was outstanding - he answered every single call I made to his cell phone. He was clear and concise throughout the whole project and really came through to have this completed by a deadline we had for our son's 2nd birthday."

"I worked with Brian on the design and materials (granite). He was solutions oriented and professional. Once they began the install, we discovered one of the walls was not true (straight). AHM came up with a solution and moved through the installation with little trouble. We are please with this addition to our basement.

Fountains questions, answered by experts

A koi pond may add value to your home if it’s a feature sellers are looking for. Like pools, ponds can affect your property value depending on their condition, whether they’re a popular selling point, and how well they’re incorporated into your home’s landscape.

Pond installation costs typically range from $1,500 to $10,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the pond's size, the materials used, excavation requirements, and any additional features such as waterfalls, lighting, or specialized habitats for fish like koi.

Placing your water feature in direct sun can speed up evaporation, leading to pump damage and algae growth. Shade or partial shade serves as the ideal location for most water features—just watch out for tree and plant debris that may fall in and clog the pump.

How many fish can call your pond home depends on the volume of the pond and the fish size. Your pond's filtration system also influences the number of fish that will thrive in a pond. A general rule of thumb is to have 1 inch of fish for every square foot in a pond that's 2 feet deep. Another rule of thumb you can follow is to have one koi fish for every 200 gallons of water or two goldfish for every 200 gallons.

Yes, your fish should stay alive in a frozen pond if you winterize it properly. By ensuring your pond has enough oxygen, good water quality, and a hole to release harmful gases, your pond and fish have the best chance of staying alive and healthy. However, if you have tropical fish, they should be overwintered indoors.
