"George with Independence Plumbing and Bath exceeded my expectations. I had a tub and shower remodel that was not only finished earlier than quoted, but completed with such quality and at a great price. George is punctual, has great communication, and definitely knows what he?s doing and does it with care and professionalism. I would 100% recommend them to anyone who needs any bathroom repairs or remodels."

"Tristan arrived in time for both the estimate and the actual job. The job involved plumbing, electrical and carpentry. He did wonderful job working with my quirky, 100-year-old home. The finished job is ever better than I had hoped. He was friendly, communicative, and very professional. He cleaned the project site meticulously when he was done - all for a price I was happy to pay. I will definitely hire him again for all my future home projects."

"In January 2025, Bath Expo converted our tub unit to a shower unit. The shower unit was not only beautiful, but much safer for us to use. After several months, we realized we needed an additional grab bar. We contacted Paul, our very knowledgeable and professional project manager, who came to our home to discuss the addition. Paul scheduled Tommy to install the bar within a few days. Tommy's craftsmanship was excellent, and he was very respectful and personable. We feel so much safer using the grab bar to step in/out of the shower...and it looks great! Thank you to Paul, Tommy, and the entire Bath Expo staff."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Incorrect pipe routing and inadequate insulation during plumbing work cause devastating bursts during freezing OH winters. Improper venting creates dangerous sewer gas intrusion and drainage failures. You must also ensure correct transitions between older cast iron pipes and modern materials to prevent hidden wall leaks. Finally, missing backflow preventers and improper water heater installations create severe health hazards and guarantee failed local inspections.

Helpful?

Combining projects is a smart approach for older Alliance properties. When updating plumbing in a pre-1960 home, address outdated electrical wiring and repair damaged subfloors simultaneously. If professionals access your basement or crawl space, upgrade your insulation to prevent winter pipe freezes. You should also install a water softener when replacing a water heater, as local hard water rapidly degrades new heating units.

Helpful?

Watch out for contractors who cannot provide a valid OH contractor license number. Avoid any professional who suggests skipping permits for your plumbing work, as local codes require inspections for most repairs. Work completed without proper permits causes severe issues during a future home sale. You should also reject quotes from individuals unfamiliar with state-specific code amendments regarding safe venting, water heater installation, and backflow prevention.

Helpful?

To protect your plumbing during harsh Alliance winters, keep pipe insulation on hand to wrap exposed lines in unheated spaces like garages and crawl spaces. Because the local surface water has moderate hardness, stock supplies to clean mineral scale and sediment from fixtures. Many older OH homes also have aging cast iron or galvanized pipes, so keep materials ready to address corrosion and prevent leaks before freezing temperatures arrive.

Helpful?

You must exclusively use materials approved by the state plumbing code for all plumbing projects. Select supply lines and fixtures that resist corrosion and scale buildup from Alliance’s moderately hard water. For unheated spaces, choose materials specifically rated for extreme winter temperatures. When replacing older systems, ensure all new fittings are completely lead-free and properly compatible with any existing cast iron or galvanized pipes.
