Customers say: Quick response

"We hired JCG for structural inspection and radon test of a new construction home. Jeff was very thorough in his inspection and answered all of our questions. He told us what we should be aware of in the future, and his formal report was returned with great detail and photos. He is very professional, clean, and courteous. The radon test results had a very quick turn-around which was specifically needed for our quick closing schedule. I will recommend JCG Footprints to anyone needing a home inspection."

"Our home has a radon mitigation system. We asked Janet to take Radon measurements, review the existing system, and make recommendations. She took measurements for 48 hours and determined that our radon levels were actually very low and that no further remedial efforts were needed. The price was very fair and no attempt was made to sell us something that we don't need."

My name is Tom Callahan I am licensed in NY to perform Home,Asbestos and Mold Inspections. My experience in construction as well as asbestos and mold allows me to provide a very thorough home inspection. The inspection includes an evaluation of such important elements as: foundation, roof, attic, plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, appliances, and more. Having a home inspected is similar to getting a physical check-up. If a problem or symptom is discovered, the inspector may recommend further evaluation. \nIf you are planning a remodel of your existing home or demolitioning a building, I can help with a asbestos survey/inspection. "It went fantastic. Scheduling wise the gentlemen at Rhino Radon were quick to respond to our inquiry via there website were I filled out a online questionnaire. Once speaking to Henry about the specifics of my home via phone and letting him no my situation. They were prompt in scheduling a date for installation to assure my radon problem didn't delay my ability to sell the home. From the time I filled out there questionnaire on there website till the system was installed and fully operational, all took place In one weeks time. I no from experience that these days the attentiveness and service Rhino Radon provided me can be difficult to find. Having recently just finished the process of building my own home in Malden and dealing with a wide range of company's and workers. It's the little things that stand out like personal treatment, responding quick to inquiries or concerns and of course taking the time to do things properly the first time around while still treating the home with respect. Rhino Radon came recommended to me via a friend and I couldn't thank them enough for steering me in the right direction for my radon mitigation needs. I would like to do the same to anyone currently searching for a radon company. If you want the job done right and a pleasant experience, look no further for your radon needs then Rhino Radon Services.

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is naturally present everywhere, it is impossible to avoid entirely. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking action to reduce radon levels if your home's test results are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.

Radon is a cancer-causing radioactive gas that poses serious health risks, infiltrating homes through foundation cracks and unnoticed spaces.

Your radon mitigation system may be loud because it’s time to replace it. Any sounds are usually from the inline fan that helps create the vacuum and resulting airflow. If you hear a new, loud mechanical or humming noise from your radon fan, it might be time to replace it. Most fans used in radon mitigation systems last up to 10 years, but may need to be replaced sooner.

The average radon mitigation system uses about 876 kWh of electricity per year, although the exact amount of electricity used will vary depending on the size of the radon fan. Once the system is installed, the annual increase to your energy bill could range from $30 to $300 per year, again depending on the size of the fan.

Radon is present almost everywhere but, like sunlight, the concentration levels and how often you are exposed to it have a large part to play in just how dangerous it is. There are levels of radon that are acceptable inside a house, but above a certain limit, radon becomes a serious radioactive hazard that is a known cause of lung cancer. In fact, radon exposure is the number two leading cause of lung cancer (after smoking).
