"Highly recommend D and P Property Mgt. Owner is very knowledgeable, professional and is attentive from start to finish. His crew is the same. Written quote was furnished. My work included heavy pruning of mature shade and fruit trees. All of my expectations were completely fulfilled at a reasonable price. Have already recommended the company to family members in need of tree services."

"Review by Guoning in Clifton Park, NY Project: Remove Tree and Stump Am Tree Service is the first to respond to our request for tree removal project, and also the first to come over doing an estimate for us. They are nice guys, very polite, and easy to communicate. They showed up on time, worked confident and hard, skillful and efficient. Great clean up after the job was done. They delivered a great job for us. I think Am Tree Service is very competitive and would like to recommend them."

"Brandon the owner was a pleasure to work with. I had him trim 3 large oak trees and remove 5 or 6 smaller trees. He also did the stump grinding. It was all done in a morning. They cleaned up everything, and you couldn't even tell they had been here by 1 PM."

"As I remember, the tree companies I worked with before fed wood into a chipper. This outfit hauled all the wood away with an excavator that dug up my lawn. They raked the dirt back in and seeded it, but I donâ t know if grass will grow there again. The owner was a good guy, but he said the guys who were working for him were new and didnâ t work the way he liked. It was an extra crew he had just hired."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You’ll have to balance up the cost, the value of the tree (sentimental or otherwise), and the risk factors. An experienced arborist will help you understand whether transplanting is likely to be successful. The cost and hassle of transplanting a large, well-established tree are often not worth it, especially if the species is fast-growing and easy to source. The decision depends on the age and species of the tree, the conditions in the new site location, and how careful the company is when digging out and moving the tree.

Tree roots can take weeks to years to die, depending on the method you use. Chemical herbicides take the least amount of time—typically between three and four weeks—while homemade methods, like covering an old stump with leaves, could take between seven and eight years. If you’re unsure which method to use or how quickly you need to act, consulting with a pro is always a good idea.

If you’re taking down a tree that you don’t suspect is affected by disease or pests and it’s nowhere near your home or other structures, then calling in a tree company should work fine. However, anything more involved means an arborist is a better option. These pros have years of experience with tree removal and can safely take down trees located next to structures, and they have the tools, sanitization equipment, and experience to remove sick or dying trees without infecting nearby trees.

Generally, you do not have the right to take fruit from a neighbor's tree, even if the branches overhang your property. The fruit is considered the property of the tree's owner. While you may have the right to trim branches that cross into your yard, the fruit on them typically still belongs to your neighbor. However, laws can vary by state and municipality. In some areas, branches that extend into your yard or trees that straddle a property line may entitle you to some of the fruit. The best course of action is to speak with your neighbor, as they may be happy to share. If a conversation is not possible, check your local regulations before picking any fruit.

Yes, you can prune a palm tree with a chainsaw, but a chainsaw is overkill for a job like this. You risk damaging the tree if you make a bad cut. More commonly, you’ll need pruning shears or a serrated knife to trim a palm tree, or you can use a specialized pruning saw instead of a chainsaw.
