"Abby and Robbie were fantastic. From design to install and finish. I had a really tricky fireplace mantle and they nailed it. I loved working with them and highly recommend. Punctual, good communication and clear costs."

"Sal Cuciti was absolutely outstanding! From start to finish, he was professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and incredibly easy to work with. His expertise as an architect was evident throughout the entire process. He took the time to carefully review every detail, provided valuable insight, and explained everything clearly and in a way that was easy to understand. Sal was responsive, patient, and always willing to answer my questions. His attention to detail, experience, and commitment to his clients truly stood out. He made the entire process feel smooth and gave me complete confidence that I was in excellent hands. If you’re looking for an architect who is knowledgeable, professional, trustworthy, and genuinely cares about his clients, I highly recommend Sal Cuciti. I worked as a Drafter in Long Island for Newmat USA (2004-2014) and Lynbrook Glass 2014-2018). Then I worked as an Architectural Designer in Key West, Florida from 2018 to 2021 in person. Architects questions, answered by experts

In the United States, architects must be licensed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia before being allowed to practice or seek business. Licensing requirements vary state-to-state, but overall the architect must be educated, attain a certain level of experience, submit to and pass an examination, and register as an architect. Find out if your architect is licensed using Angi’s contractor licensing search tool

Typically, architects do not build homes in a hands-on sense of doing the actual framing, roofing, or other building. Architects usually do not have the training and experience to build the homes they design. An architect would need to know how to do the specific trades required to build a house, which is possible but not a common practice. A general contractor or homebuilder typically oversees the actual details of building the house that the architect designs.

Start by researching local contractors with experience in cottage construction. Ask for references, check licensing and insurance, and review completed projects. Compare multiple bids, making sure each includes the same scope of work. A good contractor will communicate clearly, provide a detailed contract, and ensure all work meets code and safety standards.

Finding an architect for your project demands looking at the professional’s past work, speaking with prior clients to see what their experience was like, and discussing your project and vision with the expert to see what kind of input they have. Look for an architect that gets excited about your project or has experience with similar projects.

It can take anywhere from a few days to several months to draw up architectural plans, depending on the complexity of your project. Architectural plans are highly detailed documents that take time to complete, and any changes or alterations can significantly extend how long they take.
