I contacted Arrow Kitchens (original kitchen installer) and got no response after 2 phone calls to come for an estimate. I saw Lazzaro Remdeling on the Angie's List and being in Webster (where we live) decided to call. I got a next-day return call and immediate appointment to come measure. Estimate was in range of other places we'd talked to. He ordered cabinet (from Arrow so it would match). Called on a Saturday to say cabinet was in and they could do on Monday. Three men (including Larry) arrived on the dot Monday morning. Very professional while working. We were also having a large charge unit installed in the garage because we are buying an electric car. When we had delivery problems with the appliance store, Larry's men actually went with my husband to get the oven so the work could be completed that day. I had to leave the house but my husband was with them all day. When I returned later that day, the charger was installed in the garage, the oven was in place and operating and everything was perfectly clean and neat. They even took the oven and cabinet boxes away with them. You wouldn't know anything had been added. We have been very happy with the responsiveness, the professionalism, and the work done by Larry J. Our consultant (Joyce Baker) at the Henrietta location was absolutely fantastic to work with. She spent several hours with us, designing and pricing our cabinets. It was like she had actually seen our kitchen.
Because we needed a wall removed and replaced with an island, she recommended David Kennard to do ther install. Dave and his assistant, Adam, came out to give us the installation estimate. We were so glad that Joyce recommended them. They gave us an exact estimate and also gave us alot of suggestions. It was amazing how knowledgeable they are. These guys do it all....tear down, cabinet install, lighting, plumbing and electrical. Dave and Adam came out the same day the cabinets were delivered. They insisted on making sure everything was there and wasn't damaged in any way. They found (1) tiny little chip on one of the cabinet faces and they ordered a new one. It was very obvious that these guys have alot of pride in their work.
Because the holidays were closing in on us, they made a special effort to get the cabinets in so that we could get our countertops measured and ordered.
We contacted Lowes to get the countertop people there to measure. (They sub-contract to a company called Roma Tile and Marble out of Syracuse, NY)
THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEMS BEGAN!!
It took them a couple of days to get out to measure. The gentleman that came out to do the measuring told us that we needed to get some sort of supports to hold up the part of the counter on the island. We asked him what we should get and he told us to go back to Lowes and have them show us. We went back to Lowes and they couldn't understand why Roma didn't help us with it, !! It seemed to us that if they sell countertops, they should sell the necessary supports.since they don't sell any specific supports. When we asked about having to pick out the actual piece of granite, because it was so close to black (with a few gold flecks in it) that we wouldn't have to go to Syracuse and pick it out.
It took them 4 weeks to get our granite. When the installers came to install it, my wife called me and said that she didn't think that the color of the countertops was right. I left work and by the time I got there, the countertops were pretty much installed. The granite was a mixture of black with alot of gold marbling and gray. Since all of our new appliances were black, it was very obvious. These countertops are brown, NOT black!! We mentioned it to the installers and they said that if we had any problem, to call Roma and they would take care of any problems. These were obviously NOT the countertops we wanted.
We contacted Roma. The owner (?) came out and looked at the granite and told my wife that they had "changed the colors" somewhat and this is what the stone looked like!! He was, apparently, very rude to my wife and told her that there was nothing he was going to do and if we had a problem, take it up with Lowes. We called Joyce (at Lowes) to let her know what happened. She said that she was going to talk to management. At this point (1/12/2012), we haven't heard anything.
STAY TUNED.....WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR FROM EITHER LOWES OR ROMA.
One of the things that has bothered me, since we contracted the job, is that Lowes wants 100% of the money (Materials AND labor!!) BEFORE the job is even started!! Lowes did their part as expected...Daqve and Adam did theirs (over the top) but....at this point, I would have to say that you should get your countertops from somebody else. Maybe Lowes can get them from someone other than ROMA.
IF I GET ANY SATISFACTION FROM EITHER LOWES OR ROMA, I WILL POST THE RESULTS ON HERE. It's too bad that ROMA is associated with Lowes. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ny/rochester/lowe%27s-reviews-4952130.htm"},"position":8},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"David G Kennard INC","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"NY","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"DENNIS M."},"reviewBody":"We contracted the job through Lowes. Joyce Baker (our consultant at Lowes in Henrietta, N.Y.) spent several hours with us designing a complete remodel of our kitchen. She was very knowledgable on helping us choose the cabinets, countertops, positioning of appliances, etc.. We chose Kitchenaide cabinets and granite countertops. Because we needed walls removed, Joyce recommended Dave to be the installer. We're glad she did. After we contracted the job to Lowes, Dave was sent out to estimate the labor.
Dave and Adam arrived on time (always) and spent a couple of hours with us. They listened to what we wanted and offered some real good suggestions on some things that we never thought of. Their idea of a double level island was the best thing we did. When the cabinets arrived, they came out to make sure everything was there and inspected each piece.
These guys know how to schedule their work...the cabinets were installed and the island was built 4 days after the cabinets arrived!!
We then had to order the countertops (also through Lowes). The experience with the countertops hasn't been as good.
After the granite was installed, Dave and Adam came back 1 day later and installed the sink, dishwasher, and plumbing.
These guys are the greatest. Their workmanship is excellent, they cleaned up every day and all in all did just a fantastic job. We love the new kitchen and so thankful that we used some of their suggestions. Don't think twice about these guys. It was an excellent experience. I will be hiring them in the future without any doubts."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ny/rochester/david-g-kennard-inc-reviews-6325072.htm"},"position":9},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"MALLO HOME IMPROVEMENTS","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"NY","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Ronald S."},"reviewBody":"Remodeled the kitchen that was in circa 1960's condition We were informed of the steps of the demolition and construction process so that we could minimize disruption to our daily routine .

Excellent work. All of our windows are sparkling clean. The telephone staff does a great job of setting up appointments. They are always cheerful and helpful. They make you feel like you are their only customer.
Floors turned out great! The wood floor is very old -1890s and they were able to make them beautiful again.

FAQs for cabinet making projects in Webster, NY
Custom cabinets are worth the investment to transform the look of your kitchen with a design, color scheme, and aesthetic that’s unique to your home. If you’re looking for cabinets that reflect your personality but are more cost-effective, semi-custom cabinets are a great alternative that allows you to showcase your style, but with pre-made cabinets instead of fully custom. Custom cabinets also provide a 70 to 80 percent return on investment, making them a worthwhile purchase.
There are a few key differences between custom and semi-custom cabinets. While custom cabinets offer complete customization, semi-custom cabinets are less personalized, offering fewer paint color, finish, and hardware choices. In addition, custom cabinets typically take longer to install due to the build time, whereas semi-custom cabinets are prefabricated and therefore faster to install.
If you're looking for ways to save money on custom cabinets, there are a few ways to cut costs without sacrificing beauty. For starters, comparing door styles to choose the most cost-effective option is a great way to save money on the overall project.
In addition, choosing a common wood species versus an exotic one will lower the price. Woods like oak and hickory are often more affordable wood choices, and the same goes for knobs, pulls, and other finishes where picking a commonly available style can reduce costs.
Custom cabinets cost between $500 and $1,200 per linear foot on average to install. Factors like materials, size, and type of cabinet doors you choose significantly affect the overall cost.
For example, a basic slab cabinet door can cost $60 to $70 for materials alone. As its name suggests, this material is a piece of wood with no unique features. However, a mullioned glass inset panel door, which features a designed glass panel, ranges from $100 to $200 for materials per cabinet door.
Like most special-order items, custom cabinets have several pros and cons to consider when buying new cabinets. Custom cabinets are typically more expensive than prefabricated cabinet options, but the work often reflects the quality. Custom cabinets tend to last 20 or more years, but the time it takes to install them is typically longer than other cabinets—roughly 6 to 8 weeks on average from the time of ordering. However, a major benefit is the ability to personalize every aspect of your cabinetry, from cabinet hardware to custom paint colors.
