"Here's a polished version of your review for the tile installer: --- I hired Custom Tile Work to install my backsplash, based on a recommendation from the tile store where I made my purchase. Vince did an outstanding job. He was meticulous with every cut, cleaned up each day, and was a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Custom Tile Work for any tile installation needs."
"We called Javier simply to swap out our 2 bathroom vanities with new ones. We ended up laying down new tiles on the floors and new tiles in one shower. They also repainted both bathrooms. We also hired him to redo our two staircases, which turned out better than expected. His worker Noel really put in the effort and made us happy. We plan on calling Javier back to do some more work in November. 30 years of experience shows!"
"Ryan was courteous, professional and very knowledgeable. Above all else, he worked very clean with a fantastic attention to detail and it shows in our final product. Would definitely recommend to anyone that needs tile work!"
"Very nice friendly people, who do high quality professional work. Honest and honorable, when they saw I didn't have the tiles I needed (which I thought I could provide before they started work), they gave me a significant break on the original(already extremely reasonable)quote; and still prepared the wall to make future tile installation easy.
When the saw a very small area near the area worked on that they thought might need a small patch, (without my asking) they asked me if I'd like them to give it patch it as part of the other work. The worker did a great job within the time they quoted.
They found a pipe from upstairs had a small leak, affecting discoloration of the wall they were to paint. Rather than leave their work to be ruined by the ongoing leak, they volunteered (after showing me) to paint up to a point, and make arrangements to come back after I can get management to fix the leak from upstairs.
They're honest, hardworking and honorable workers;a pleasure to work with."
"Mr. Ravi, and his office assistant, Theirsa, were very professional, responsive, and accommodating to any concerns or questions I had. I found his pricing to be reasonable, and he provided me with a realistic timeline. I was very happy with the fencing crew he sent. They were respectful, arrived on time, and communicated with me when they would encounter challenges. A special shout out to Yuvin, Dave, and Vijai*, if you have this crew, you will be very satisfied with their workmanship and overall knowledge. I highly recommend Raifa Construction for your fencing needs."
"Words cannot describe how well these guys did and everything they worked with us on. We had several small jobs and deck work. They painted our high vaulted walls and ceilings. They fixed our shower plumbing and added an acces panel for the shower. They installed a new ceiling fan. They re-faced our rotted deck and replaced several joists. Replaced both sets of stairs and set them in concrete. Amazing woodworking, professionalism, punctual, truly good people that you can actually trust. All work was done in a very timely fashion. We will definitely hire again for various projects around the house."
Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts
When hiring pros for a ceramic tile service project in Staten Island, NY, seek specialists with experience handling older home foundations and coastal moisture. Confirm they have adequate liability insurance and can provide references from recent local jobs. A Certified Tile Installer (CTI) certification is a strong qualification. Be cautious of door-to-door solicitations or demands for full payment upfront, which are common red flags.
Helpful?
The humid subtropical climate in NY significantly impacts ceramic tile service projects. High humidity, especially in summer, can slow the curing time for adhesives, while cold winter temperatures also extend drying. For outdoor projects, salt-resistant materials are essential due to coastal air. Professionals often recommend porcelain tiles and epoxy grout to better withstand the region's moisture and temperature fluctuations, with installation best scheduled between May and October.

To maintain ceramic tile service projects in Staten Island, NY, you should sweep daily and mop weekly with a pH-neutral cleaner. Due to the coastal climate, clean grout monthly to prevent mold and reapply grout sealer annually to combat high humidity. Outdoor tiles need more frequent cleaning because of salt air exposure, and you should check for loose tiles after winter freeze-thaw cycles.

A small bathroom ceramic tile service project in Staten Island typically takes 3 to 5 days, while a kitchen backsplash can be done in 1 to 2 days. However, local factors can extend timelines. Delays from bridge traffic, winter weather, or complications in older homes are common. Permit processing through the NYC Department of Buildings can also add 2 to 4 weeks before work begins.
Helpful?
Your Staten Island home is a good candidate for ceramic tile service projects if it has a stable foundation and a level subfloor, which is crucial for older homes. Ensure the structure can support the tile's weight and that any basement areas have proper waterproofing. Homes with effective HVAC systems and good exterior drainage are ideal, as they help manage the moisture common to the area.
