"From start to finish, Best Quality Electric delivered an exceptional, white-glove experience. The process began with a dedicated consultation that was educational, detailed, and thoughtfully planned—setting a clear vision before any work even began. The following day, the team arrived precisely on time and immediately demonstrated a level of professionalism that is rare to find. Shoe protection was used, and every floor and piece of furniture was carefully covered. Their respect for the home was as impressive as their craftsmanship. Watching the two electricians work was remarkable. They operated in perfect sequence, anticipating each other’s next step, covering every single detail with precision. Not one question went unanswered—each was met with patience, clarity, and deep expertise that inspired complete confidence. Best Quality Electric truly lives up to its name. This is not just electrical work—it’s a refined, high-standard service experience. Bold, meticulous Toptier work!"

"PKJ Electrical is the most professional electrician's I have ever hired. They were on time, courteous and very knowledgeable. They replaced my breaker box. "Came to my house the same day and completed the job. Mike the electrician was a nice guy and did a good job. $200 the first hour and $100 each additional hour. Changed existing ceiling fan, switches and outlets. I already had the parts, took 3+ hours, cost almost $500 with tax. Not sure if this is standard. I called them after another electrician who was supposed to come that day canceled."

"our home is still undergoing reconstruction from hurricane Sandy and MANY contractors work has to be redone. We can only do one job at a time because of money and Andrew understood this. His kindness and compassion was very much appreciated. When he and Genard came to do the work the were professional , explained what they did and found other problems that will be taken care of next. The other company that came here NEVER got back to us, If you want a fantastic electrician and a nice person to come into your home HIRE HIM, EXCELLENT"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

You can check if an electrician is licensed in California by using the online check a license tool offered by the Department of Consumer Affairs Contractors State License Board. You have the option of searching by the license number, the electrical contractor’s name, or the name of the business to determine the electrician’s status.

A circuit breaker flipping off when it detects an overloaded circuit isn’t a problem, but flipping the switch frequently can damage it and eventually cause an electrical hazard. If you’re going on a long vacation or leaving your home for the season, you should avoid turning off your circuit breaker to prevent electrical damage to your system.

A standard three-prong electrical outlet typically lasts for about 15 years with normal use and should be replaced accordingly. GFCI outlets may have a longer lifespan of 15 to 25 years. While some outlets can last longer if used infrequently, they can also fail prematurely. Reasons for early failure include poor wiring, an overloaded circuit, improper grounding or installation, or loose plugs. Signs that an outlet is failing include flickering lights, overheating, a discolored or melted faceplate, plugs that fall out easily, or frequently tripping circuit breakers. It is essential to address faulty outlets promptly to avoid safety hazards, especially in homes older than 15 years.

If your plug feels hot to the touch, it’s likely a sign of an electrical issue that needs immediate attention. Check for signs of melting or discoloration around the plug, as well as any burning smells or smoke. If you notice any of these signs, immediately unplug any devices and do not use the outlet again until it’s been inspected by a qualified electrician.

While washers and dryers do not require a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) outlet to function properly, electrical codes often mandate their use for safety. The National Electrical Code (NEC) requires GFCI protection for all outlets within six feet of a water source. This means a washer and dryer must be plugged into a GFCI outlet if they are installed in locations like a laundry room, utility room, garage, or basement. In other areas without a nearby water source, there is no specific requirement, but using a GFCI outlet is still recommended for extra peace of mind. It is always best to consult your local codes and regulations to ensure compliance and safety.
