"The project went extremely well. I can’t say enough about the professionalism shown by James Walsh and his magnificent crew. I called for an estimate after reading all the glowing reviews on Angie’s List. The fact that my location was in Northern Westchester was not an issue. He was very accommodating. We spoke about what I wanted and the ideas I had and he offered his opinion and sometimes alternative suggestions based on his vast experience. Due to changes in the weather, the start date was delayed, but James kept in touch throughout. On the first day, he and his crew came out to inspect the site and take measurements. They also manually broke up the concrete walkway...with sledge hammers?. For the next three days after that, they were here every morning at 7:30 am. His crew was amazing. They and James all worked together like a well oiled machine..not wasting any time. Their craftsmanship was outstanding! You could see the respect that they had for each other. James was great at finding solutions to potential problems. With the driveway apron, there was an issue with the depth of buried Verizon cables. With no info from 811, Verizon, or the City, I was ready to give up on the project. James was very encouraging saying that they would go very slowly and carefully and make it work somehow. In the end, we had no problem with the installation and it turned out beautifully. In another instance, the stone yard did not have the pavers that I’d chosen for the walkway and James went with me to select a new paver, offering valuable advice about the preferred size and layout suitable for my space. We selected a 3 piece paver set that neither of us had intended and it looks fantastic. He discovered that, because of a height difference, we could not use the same pavers bordered by bluestone on the front door platform. We decided to just go with all bluestone on the platform to maintain a uniform height. After trying to brainstorm other options, James suggested a colored bluestone for the center. I was a little hesitant because I did not want the colors to clash. He reassured me that it was neutral enough to work. I trusted his judgement and it looks wonderful! James is a very trusting person. He asked for no money upfront or throughout the job...no 1/3 now, 1/3 halfway through, 1/3 at the end. With him it was simply he does what you ask him to do, and you pay him when he’s finished. That’s rare these days. There was no additional monies tacked on at the end of the job....even if he paid more for materials than anticipated. The costs were not passed on to the client. The job site was left immaculate. All debris was removed and even some that they didn’t generate! All in all, I would not hesitate to work with James and his crew again. They were very meticulous in every detail. You could see the pride that was taken in what they were doing. James is very lucky. He’s got one of the best crews around. At the end, he and I walked through to inspect each of the areas. James was very patient in answering all my questions and concerns. After that, it was “call me if there are any problems and I will come back and fix it” and they were gone. After having worked with James for a mere 4 days, I’m sure he meant it! You will not regret hiring Rock Solid General Contractors!"

"We used Palmieri Landscaping to reblacktop our driveway.  Ralph, the foreman, was very easy to get a hold of and answered all of our questions.  He formulated a plan to put the blacktop down in a way that could ease waterflow into our drains.  The work was done fast and with great attention to detail.  I had a question about the work and Ralph came out the next day to see the issue and talk to me about it. VERY responsive employees and company.  It's always nice to find a contractor that actually calls you back AFTER the work is done.  The cost of this job was 1/2 of what another company had given me as an estimate.
Then, we hired them to do the spring cleanup of the yard and weekly maintenence.  The lawn never looked so good.  Their weekly cost was similar to other estimates.

"I had a stone, slate and concrete entryway staircase of 3 or 4 steps that was in disrepair and that looked to have been built somewhat amateurishly and unevenly by a prior homeowner.
I received several estimates from other masons who determined that this existing stairway would need to be entirely torn out and a brand new stone staircase built at a cost of $2,500 to $3,000.
Luis from L & Z Masonry figured out a clever way to retain most of the existing concrete structure, install new bluestone treads, and raise/rebuild a portion of the existing slate walkway to make the whole stairway even and to meet code.  The results were outstanding and saved me a significant amount over what had been quoted by his competitors.  This stairway will probably stand for the next 100 years.
It takes considerable skill and experience to come up with a creative solution the way Luis did.
I recommend him without reservation and hope to use him again to rebuild a stone patio in the future.

"Antonio can not be any more different than the average contractor that many of us fret having to deal with. We immediately felt a strong sense of trust with Antonio. He worked with us in providing suggestions to keep the cost of our project very affordable. He takes incredible pride in the quality of his work and the satisfaction of his customer, without relying on high-end pricing to achieve either. Antonio built us a new flagstone patio, at least twice the size of our fieldstone patio. We could not be happier with the finished project but there are a few points to highlight. Originally, we desired a 16 x 30 rectangular patio and after advising Antonio of our plans to use the patio, he felt that we might want to do 17 or 18 x 30. While my wife had also felt that way from the start, I was very stubborn in giving up a little more of our backyard depth. Antonio noted that if we changed our minds, he could add on to the depth if we so chose. Sure enough, after endless second-guessing and then seeing the majority of the 16 x 30 patio laid out, we decided to have Antonio build it 17 x 34 . The additional dimensions were seamless and despite it being a late change, the patio shows no signs of an add on A couple of final points about the quality: the subtle multicolored stones are exquisite and perfectly draw in the sand color of our siding just as we had hoped they would. Finally, and possibly the most impressive part, is the circular corner section that we will dedicate to our fit pit area. We were extremely nervous about how that would come out especially when learning they would be cutting the circular perimeter BY HAND. They blew our expectations away with the entire project, but the circular firepit section especially highlights the excellent craftsmanship of the work for Antonio. I have already recommended Antonio to friends and family, including a brother who is a quality-obsessed contractor."
