James and his coworkers did a wonderful job. Rock Solid installed a concrete patio for me and they did it in a timely and professional manner. I am very happy with their work and I would use them again and I would recommend them again.

I've hired James and crew for two projects now - first, to replace my garage floor, and more recently, to replace my front walkway and steps. We had a great experience working with James and his team to install a patio in our backyard. James helped us understand the different available materials and methods for installation, and he was transparent about pricing. He even encouraged us to come to the masonry supply store with him to see the stones in person to make sure we liked what we were getting. James and his team also helped us solve some drainage issues in the backyard, repaired our side stairs and replaced the stucco, and fixed some issues with our front walk. Even when unexpected scenarios came up, they were handled thoughtfully and efficiently. Everyone was very friendly and worked really well together. It's very clear James cares a lot about his work, and he wanted us to be happy with the result. Overall everything went faster than I expected and looks beautiful!

Rock Solid has done tuck pointing on our 1935 brick colonial house 10 years ago and they were great. The repair work is still holding. Fastforward 2022, RS came back to work on redoing the bricks on back patio. Just as before, quality is great, price point is good and time estimate accurate. James Walsh is patient, answers any questions before starting projects. It was a pleasure to work with him and his team. We highly recommend Rock Solid.

James was a pleasure to deal with, friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. We needed our concrete garage floor replaced, involving removal of old concrete and pouring new concrete. It turned out there was some water under the old floor (well under grade) so James added plastic sheeting under the new floor. Also pointed steps. He brought as many a 5 workers to the job, all appearing very competent. The work looks great. Would definitely recommend Rock Solid.

His crew was able to start very quickly, was very professional, and handled our fairly big job in a few days. James has a way of educating you in an area you likely are not familiar. It is comforting and reassuring. Others tend to yes you to death. As anyone should, I had multiple quotes. James was very competitive with his peers. He's the guy you want. James has also been good to follow up the work with phone calls to suggest things I could doto make sure the concrete cures well. I would not hesitate to have them back, and will certainly call them when I have additional work to be done.

Mr Walsh explained everything to me (especially that they were grounded in soil and needed to be grounded in cement) and did an excellent job at a very reasonable price with a very good crew just as promised. ( a very pleasant gentleman as well).

We really cannot give enough positive feedback about James Walsh and his very competent and pleasant crew! Our concrete front steps were in dire need of a facelift. We decided to add bluestone treads and brick risers. Our first dilemma was that the facade of our home was “used brick” and we weren’t sure how to match it as best as possible. James told us what to look for and sent us to his contact at a local brickyard to be sure we’d be satisfied with our choice. After selecting bricks, he sent us to another place to choose bluestone and pavers. He carefully explained all the choices we had for filling the “field” on the landing, i.e. whether to use thermal bluestone or pavers and the pluses and minuses of each. From there he helped us to change the design of our front walk (previously cement) and design a walkway in the back of our home from our deck to the driveway. James was fairly priced and accessible for questions before the job and as it proceeded. His crew showed up on time each day and worked carefully, neatly, and diligently. The job was completed on time and looked nicer than we could have anticipated. Our neighbors all came over to compliment the work. On top of everything, James has a great sense of humor and is delightful to work with. He is incredibly knowledgeable about his craft. We would not hesitate to recommend him and hire him again. James and his crew were an absolute pleasure to work with. We are very happy with the results and hope that it will be long-lasting. They worked very clean. The project went extremely well. I can’t say enough about the professionalism shown by James Walsh and his magnificent crew. I called for an estimate after reading all the glowing reviews on Angie’s List. The fact that my location was in Northern Westchester was not an issue. He was very accommodating. We spoke about what I wanted and the ideas I had and he offered his opinion and sometimes alternative suggestions based on his vast experience. Due to changes in the weather, the start date was delayed, but James kept in touch throughout. On the first day, he and his crew came out to inspect the site and take measurements. They also manually broke up the concrete walkway...with sledge hammers?. For the next three days after that, they were here every morning at 7:30 am. His crew was amazing. They and James all worked together like a well oiled machine..not wasting any time. Their craftsmanship was outstanding! You could see the respect that they had for each other. James was great at finding solutions to potential problems. With the driveway apron, there was an issue with the depth of buried Verizon cables. With no info from 811, Verizon, or the City, I was ready to give up on the project. James was very encouraging saying that they would go very slowly and carefully and make it work somehow. In the end, we had no problem with the installation and it turned out beautifully. In another instance, the stone yard did not have the pavers that I’d chosen for the walkway and James went with me to select a new paver, offering valuable advice about the preferred size and layout suitable for my space. We selected a 3 piece paver set that neither of us had intended and it looks fantastic. He discovered that, because of a height difference, we could not use the same pavers bordered by bluestone on the front door platform. We decided to just go with all bluestone on the platform to maintain a uniform height. After trying to brainstorm other options, James suggested a colored bluestone for the center. I was a little hesitant because I did not want the colors to clash. He reassured me that it was neutral enough to work. I trusted his judgement and it looks wonderful! James is a very trusting person. He asked for no money upfront or throughout the job...no 1/3 now, 1/3 halfway through, 1/3 at the end. With him it was simply he does what you ask him to do, and you pay him when he’s finished. That’s rare these days. There was no additional monies tacked on at the end of the job....even if he paid more for materials than anticipated. The costs were not passed on to the client. The job site was left immaculate. All debris was removed and even some that they didn’t generate! All in all, I would not hesitate to work with James and his crew again. They were very meticulous in every detail. You could see the pride that was taken in what they were doing. James is very lucky. He’s got one of the best crews around. At the end, he and I walked through to inspect each of the areas. James was very patient in answering all my questions and concerns. After that, it was “call me if there are any problems and I will come back and fix it” and they were gone. After having worked with James for a mere 4 days, I’m sure he meant it! You will not regret hiring Rock Solid General Contractors!

James and his team did an excellent job replacing the curbing in front of my driveway. The weather held us up for several weeks but James stayed in touch and started the work as soon as the weather permitted. The finished curbing looks absolutely first rate, James paid particular attention to how the new curbing connected to the pavers at the foot of my driveway and to the curbing on either side of my driveway. James was a true pleasure to work with and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for any masonry work. He is a true professional.

I had some bluestone steps which were coming lose due to water damage from wear and tear that I wanted reset. James was extremely responsive, personable, and did great work. One of the best craftsmen I've found on angies list.

James and crew demolished an old crummy slate sidewalk and poured a nice clean concrete one. We talked about the design and shape of it and James was very accommodating to what I wanted. I am not a trusting person when it comes to contractors, but James earned my trust. I scratched the year in the setting concrete, and my homage to the company that poured it (photo below). I will surely hire Rock Solid again.
