"Old Time Carpenters did more than just the cabinets. He helped with the redisign and relocation of a window in my kitchen. He layed an oak wood floor in the kitchen and weaved it into the existing wood floors in the dining room and hall with no visible difference. He painted my whole house, replaced all our doors and molding, refinished the wood floors throughout the house and installed attic stairs. His work is excellent and I would highly recommend him."

"Renewal by Andersen has been a wonderful experience! They built and installed four new windows for my condo! From sales through installation the people were unreal. The windows were professionally installed within four hours. The installers worked like a well-oiled team. From the minute they started I viewed a fantastic group. Their trailer contained the windows and everything needed. They laid down plastic inside to ensure everything remained pristine. The windows are beautiful and made me happy. I'd highly recommend them if you need windows. They are not cheap but well worth the money! Condo owners around me were all watching the progress!!"

"From the first phone call to the completion of the job everything went very smoothly. I felt the original price suggested was a little high because my house is small, and Sergiy and I came to an amicable agreement when he came to the house. He arrived promptly as scheduled. A partner came along, and both men were friendly and courteous. Throughout the time they were here they were careful of the property.  They worked very hard and completed everything we had agreed to. It was good work at a very fair price. I would certainly call Sergiy again and will recommend him to friends and neighbors.

Doors FAQs, answered by experts

Most of the time, a squeaky door is the result of dry hinges, where metal parts rub together without enough lubrication. Dirt, dust, or rust can also build up inside the hinge and add to the friction. Loose screws or slight misalignment can shift things just enough to create that irritating squeaking noise. Worn-out hinges or swelling wood from humidity changes can also be part of the problem on older doors. A good cleaning and proper lubrication usually take care of it, but if the squeak sticks around, it’s worth checking for bigger issues with the hinges or alignment.

Yes, professionals can install eco-friendly exterior doors made from sustainable materials such as bamboo or reclaimed wood. Additionally, doors with energy-efficient insulation, low-VOC finishes, and high-performance glazing contribute to a more sustainable home environment, reducing energy consumption and minimizing ecological impact.

If your specific sliding glass door model is out of stock or no longer being built, it may still be best to contact the original manufacturer or installer. They can suggest a comparable replacement that is similar in size, avoiding more expensive repairs to retrofit a new door to an older opening.

Start by checking the top or side edge of the door. Look for a certification label or metal tag stamped with details like the fire rating and information on the manufacturer. Even if it’s painted over, the tag should still be visible. Next, look along the edges for slim intumescent strips. They’re designed to swell up and seal gaps when exposed to heat. Finally, check if the door closes itself. Most fire doors have a self-closing mechanism, like an overhead closer or spring hinges. If none of these are obvious, contact a fire safety professional to help verify your door.

Yes, you can add a screen door to most door frames. The screen should be able to fit standard-size door frames, so unless you have an unusually sized door, you shouldn’t have an issue. Just make sure to properly measure the frame. When in doubt, it’s best to let a pro take care of this task for you so it’s installed correctly.
