"We hired Sergio and his team to retile our bathroom and install a new vanity and lights, complete with the attendant plumbing and electrical work. They were responsive, showed up on time, completed the work quickly and efficiently, and left us with a beautiful bathroom that looked brand new. The tiling work, in particular, was very well done and displays expert craftsmanship. We are pleased with our experience with Veterans Tile and would not hesitate to hire them again."

"There was a delay in starting the work, but once Luis and his assistant arrived it went smoothly. Luis made recommendations as to what sink to use and ordered everything in advance. He also disposed of the old sink. I have not tried doing a load of laundry yet but I look forward to trying the sink."

"I am thrilled the way our kitchen looks and works after Pasquale at P & D Remodeling resurfaced the cabinets, and the countertop was replaced. He was painstaking in taking measurements and we had no problems whatsoever. He installed the drawers/doors and cabinet surfaces which are top quality immediately upon their arrival. He also installed a crown molding which really gave the kitchen a finished look. He did extra things such as removing a trash compactor that we never used and replacing it with a pull-out garbage container and installing a lazy Susan. After the initial project was complete he didn’t disappear but made several suggestions (replacing the window trim, resurfacing a bulletin board area, installing a new light) that we agreed to and which really add to the look. All this and his estimate was considerably lower than larger companies."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

It’s a good idea to wait at least 24 hours after opening your pool before you swim in it. Pool opening often involves shocking the water, and the chemical levels need to come down a bit before it’s safe to swim. You can continue testing your water pH and chlorine levels if you’re in a rush. It’s wise to wait until your chlorine levels drop to under four parts per million (ppm) and you have a water pH of between 7.2 and 7.8. You can artificially lower your water pH to speed up the process.

Yes, too much chlorine can make your pool cloudy, especially after you have recently shocked it. However, low chlorine levels are a more common cause of cloudy water. An imbalance in pH or an excess of any chemical can also lead to cloudiness. To determine the specific cause, you should test your pool water to check the levels of chlorine, pH, and other chemicals. Regular maintenance is essential for keeping your pool clean and clear.

Because frogs require fresh water for survival, they can die from repeated exposure to swimming pool chemicals. Chlorine dehydrates frogs, which can lead to their deaths. To ensure frogs don’t hang out in your pool for long periods, safely remove them once you spot them in your pool and install a frog log so they can easily hop out on their own.

Yes, you will need building permits for an inground pool, and your pool installation company should pull them for you. The permit filing fee will usually sit between $400 and $1,800, and it should appear on your contract or invoice. You may want to confirm with your contractor that they will pull all necessary permits. You might also need a permit for a new fence, as many municipalities have special fencing requirements for properties with pools. A fence permit costs between $50 and $500. This expense may not be included in your pool installation estimate.

If you put too much baking soda in your pool, your alkalinity will rise. That means you’ll need to take steps to lower your alkalinity. You can either add more water (which will require more chemicals because they’ll be diluted), wait for the alkalinity to lower naturally, or use a chemical like muriatic acid to lower it.
