Despite it being a weekend, they answered the phone on the first ring, and they were at our home within two hours. They diagnosed the problem quickly and had the main line cleaned out. They also replaced a flange on a toilet in the basement and got that re-sealed. They kept us in the loop as they were working, and they made sure everything was cleaned up when they left. Yes, rats can come up through drains. They can crawl through basement floor drains, lateral house drains, and roof drains. Installing rat blockers in your drains is the best way to repel rats and prevent them from entering your pipes. These are one-way valves that allow water and waste to flow out but keep rats from getting in.

With a one-way cleanout, you can access your sewer line from one direction.
