"Anthony was very professional. He showed up on time with the right tools and a great attitude. I can say that he is a very knowledgeable and experienced plumber based on the Finished project. Anthony executed the project in a timely manner. He also didn t leave any mess behind. He also called to do a follow up assessment on the completed project the next day. I would gladly recommend Anthony to anyone who needs a plumber."

"My cesspool cap did not have a collar on it and we did not know the exact location. The worker was very clever and taught me a science lesson to find the cap. I greatly appreciated that he stayed with me to help dig it out with shovels because I had family coming in for the weekend and being without using toilets was not an option. So A+ for customer service and ability."

"There was damage to a lower ceiling from a bathroom on the upper floor. The plumber reset the toilet in the upper bathroom, which looked like it was the correct thing to do at the time, but the next day, the ceiling was still wet, and I discovered that the waste pipe had a hole in it, in two places, and the plumber had to come back, replace that pipe, reset the toilet again, at additional expense. He did a good job though, and hopefully no more leaks."

"My toilet was fixed, but developed another problem, Peter returned (at no additional charge) and fixed that and showed me what to do should it happen again. That I only use that toilet infrequently is part of the problem, but I should not have any more problems with it."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

The average cost to hire a plumber is typically between $45 and $200 per hour, with a common average rate around $125 per hour. This cost can vary based on your location, the plumber's experience, and the complexity of the job. Rates are often broken down by experience level: an apprentice may charge $45 to $90 an hour, a journeyman $60 to $110 an hour, and a master plumber $80 to $200 an hour. While hourly rates are standard, some plumbers may charge a flat fee for routine projects or offer project-based pricing. It's also common for plumbers to charge a minimum service or trip fee. For reference, some typical flat-rate costs for common jobs include: drain unclogging ($220), leaky faucet repair ($270), burst pipe repair ($400), toilet repair ($300), and water heater repair ($600). Note that these rates are for standard service hours; emergency, holiday, and after-hours calls will cost significantly more.

Brown stains in your toilet bowl are most likely limescale. Limescale happens from lime being left behind from hard water evaporating. Once dried out, the minerals also catch dirt and bacteria which eventually accumulate into the brown or blackish stain you see in your toilet. To remove thick and hard limescale from your toilet, use a mixture of vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda, and scrub with a metal scrubbing brush.

No, you can’t convert a gravity-flush toilet to a pressure-assist toilet. Pressure-assist toilets include a tank-within-the-tank, and a standard gravity-flush toilet doesn’t have a capability to include the additional tank. If you want the benefits of a pressure-assist toilet, you’ll have to make the investment in a new one.

No, the pink ring in your toilet bowl isn’t a hard water stain but a type of bacteria called Serratia marcescens. This bacteria can also cause pinkish stains in other areas of your bathroom, like around your tub, shower curtains, and faucets. Thankfully, it’s considered to be harmless. However, if you or anyone in your household is immunocompromised, it can cause issues like urinary tract infections. You can clean the pink ring with bleach and a plastic brush. Wear gloves and goggles when using bleach, and always work in a well-ventilated room.

The water in your toilet tank refills after each flush. So if you see dirty water in the bowl, you should check the tank to see if it’s coming from there. A dirty toilet tank can be the result of sediment in the water itself—-after all, the water will sit in the tank between flushes and can cause the interior to change into a dingy color. Faulty toilet components, like an old flapper, corroded tank lever or chain, or damaged seals, can also lead to dirty water as the materials break down inside the tank. You can clean the toilet tank or change out the old parts to give it a fresh start.
