"AI Developers Masonry did an outstanding work on my daughter and son-in-law's front steps as well as scrap/prime/spray their handrails on the front steps. The steps were worse than originally thought and AI Developers Masonry went above and beyond to rebuild the steps which resulted in a late evening work. They were very professional and take pride in their work and made sure that these steps would be safe for my kids and would last. I am very thankful for their craftsmanship, their professionalism and their care to make sure that these steps and railing would be safe and last. Thank you AI Developers Masonry!"

Small jobs welcome

"Hired David to repair and re stucco our 100+ yr old house. Impressed with Davidâ s honesty and work ethic. Went above and beyond my expectations. Puts in long, hard days of work and cleans up afterwards. His prices are very reasonable and the finished product has neighbors stopping to compliment our beautiful home. Highly recommend ."

"If you want a contracting company that really delivers, look no further than TruNorth Enterprises, helmed by the remarkable Will. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience with Will and his team, who have consistently exceeded my expectations in every project they've undertaken. Last September, as we were getting ready to put our house on the market, Will tackled a laundry list of repairs and renovations for me, and the results were nothing short of exceptional. From framing to cabinetry, flooring, plumbing, carpentry, and masonry, Will's expertise shone through in every task. No job was too big or too small for him, and each one was completed with a close attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. And the work spoke for itself—the house was sold for way above our asking price, and we got great feedback about many of the projects that Will had tackled. What sets Will apart isn’t just his technical skill, but also his integrity and transparency. Throughout the process, he was upfront about the work needed, the timeline involved, and the associated costs. In fact, his pricing came in lower than quotes from three other contractors. I’d say that the best part of working with Will is the peace of mind he provides. Trust is paramount when inviting someone into your home to make significant repairs or alterations, and with Will, that trust comes effortlessly. His honesty, reliability, and professionalism make him a contractor that I can rely on without reservation. Now that we’re in our new home, and having experienced firsthand the quality of Will's craftsmanship, I’m already looking forward to future projects. From building built-in bookcases, to extending our deck, to replacing old windows, to addressing the many hidden problems that a person always discovers over time in a new house, I have no doubt that Will and TruNorth Enterprises will continue to deliver exceptional results. In an industry where finding a reliable contractor can be challenging, Will from TruNorth Enterprises stands out for his reliability, skill, and integrity. I'm grateful for the excellent work he's done for me and highly recommend his services to anyone looking for quality contracting."

"Sean responded promptly to my scheduling concerns because I has having many trees removed. He took pride in his work and produced a lovely stone patio. He also went above and beyond in the job he did constructing a nice stone pathway, a new entrance fence and a great grading, topsoil, seeding and mulching reclamation of my back yard."

"We have a brick chimney at our recently bought house that needed a chimney inspection. The previous owners put on a new roof and we were concerned about leaking. Vinny was very professional and checked everything thoroughly. He said all looked good and he would checked it again on the spring. I highly suggest him! Quick response time, courteous and very professional."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

It is possible, albeit a lot slower, to break up a rock using water. You would do this by freezing and thawing the water. You could create some initial holes or cracks in the rock, then pour water into the cracks or holes and allow them to freeze (so it's best to do this in winter or in colder climates). Since water expands when it freezes, this puts pressure on the inside of the rock and causes it to crack. You could continue to pour more water in and let it freeze to continue to break up the rock.

When painting brick, each application method has pros and cons. Spraying is much faster but may not penetrate the porous surface of the bricks. Rolling is effective for getting paint into the bricks but doesn't work as well on the mortar. Brushing is very time-consuming and also won't penetrate beyond the surface. For the best results, a combination of spraying and rolling is often recommended. If you use a roller, choose a thick option (at least a half-inch) and ensure the paint gets into all the crevices for even coverage.

Mortar, or masonry mortar, is mainly used in joints and as parging for stone, brick, or cement construction. Stucco is primarily a surface material used as wall coverings. For maintenance, masonry will need repointing or replacing as damage or land shifting occurs, whereas stucco will need patching or refinishing as it tends to crack over time along with other types of wear-and-tear.

Do not use super glue to hang lights on brick unless you want your lights up year-round. Hot glue is a better choice because it’s easily removable with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Super glue is very hard to remove, and you could tear off parts of the brick in the removal process.

In some cases, black stains on brick are caused by organic substances like algae and mold. However, it's more likely that the black spots you're noticing on your bricks come from carbon from vehicle exhaust or soot. Black stains can usually be removed by scrubbing the brick with a brush and masonry cleaner or power washing.
