"Great product vs. cost ratio. Electrical inspector who checked their work, as required, after installation remarked that 'this company always does good work.' Completed the work in less than a day with little intrusion into my at home activities. One thing I would add is I wish they had spent a little more time explaining the controls and operation. I still don't know what the one circuit breaker on the outside does or if/when it would be used."

The modern suburban and small town home of today has become an ideal lightning target. The home owner would do well to recognize lightning for the destructive force that it is and protect against this major life and fire hazard. Donohue's Lightning Rods is based in Missouri, near the factory where most of the residential and commercial lightning rod supplies are manufactured. Jim travels regularly to Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and New York. Call today to find out when Jim will be in your area. For installations outside Missouri, Kansas, or Texas, Jim waits until there are a few customers lined up, thus being able to provide the same quality services at affordable prices. **WE DO NOT DO ELECTRICAL SERVICES.** (ONLY LIGHTNING RODS)

"The job was beautifully and professionally done. I have a zero scape yard and the gentleman was concerned about disturbing the gravel when putting the rod into the ground. WOW!!!!"

We are a residential and commercial electrical contractor that provides quality work at an affordable price with over 5 years of experience. No job is too big or to small. We pride ourselves on 100% customer satisfaction by standing by our product and making sure you have the best possible experience. Call us today!!!!

"We’ve had Twin Tiers Electric at our home more than a half dozen times over the last few years. Beyond knowledgeable and skilled workmanship they provide great communication, flexible scheduling, and on time arrival. They minimized the impact their work had in our home and left our home as they found it (maybe better?). They also offered suggestions for alternatives to the work we had asked for safety or to prevent problems in the future. What more could we ask for? But where they really shined was one occasion where we had a so-called lost neutral…a situation in which the voltage at an outlet can be very low to twice the normal 120 volts. We damaged a few appliances before we knew something was wonky. We were lucky we didn’t suffer any injury or cause a fire. The folks from Twin Tiers came out immediately. First they located the source of the problem as the underground cable between our house and the connection with the power company. They arranged for a generator to provide minimal power to our home to keep our refrigerators and water well pump running so we could remain in our home during the repair. So thoughtful! They had to excavate a trench, lay replacement conduit and cable, and backfill. Throughout the work they handled all the communication with the power company to disconnect us from the grid, inspect the work, and reconnect us. Finally they provided the necessary documentation for our insurance claim. They were at our house for over a week from dawn to dusk even through a holiday weekend. What a great work ethic! The service from Twin Tiers is everything we could expect and so much more!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

You can tell if a breaker is GFCI by looking for a red or yellow test and reset button that you can press in and out. You’ll know if an outlet is GFCI if the red reset button is located in between the two pronged sections.

According to the National Electrical Code® (NEC®), the electrical code for kitchen outlets states that electrical outlets in a kitchen should be installed no more than 48 inches apart. This ensures that a receptacle is no further away than 24 inches from any place on the countertop. Countertops wider than 12 inches need an outlet on the wall above the countertop.

You can check if an electrician is licensed in New York by using the online license verification search tool offered by the New York State Education Department. The database is updated daily and gives you the option of searching by license number, contractor name, or the name of the business.

A sump pump can be plugged into a regular, 110-volt outlet with three-prong openings, but it must have GFCI protections per the NEC, meaning you’ll need a GFCI outlet and circuit. Sump pumps require two outlet openings, one for the plug to the motor and one for the float switch.

Yes, professionals offer upgrades to support VoIP, fiber optic, or high-speed internet connections.
