Service calls requiring diagnosis and follow-up are charged a diagnostic fee, which includes all travel, set up, and time to diagnose the issue. As your situation confirmed, it is not uncommon for us to run a free estimate only to have the client decide to perform the work themselves, and this is more common on service repairs. Hence, our requirement to charge a diagnostic fee. As you can probably imagine, a few of these every day and we would soon be out of business. Please know that we regularly shop our competition to make sure we are competitively priced, and this research shows that our practices are either in line with the majority of reputable businesses out there, or often times more comprehensive. I contacted Issac to repair a gas furnace that would not light. I was contacted by a service technician once he arrived on the scene. He explained to me the issue with the furnace and cost of the new part and the service to replace it. In addition, he offered a two year protection plan which covers all costs for parts and service. The costs for the furnace repair and the protect plan seemed fair. I am now resting comfortably knowing this furnace is one hundred percent covered for two full years.

I think your rating are a little harsh given the circumstances and the fact we have only charged you for the first diagnostic.
