No, carpetgrass and St. Augustine grass are two different species. However this is a very common misconception and you may even find St. Augustine grass is mislabeled as carpetgrass. Carpetgrass does not have as much shade tolerance as St. Augustine grass, and has narrower blades with an alternating pattern (while St. Augustine grass has an opposite pattern). St. Augustine grass doesn’t have the weedy, high seedheads that carpetgrass produces.

Mowing a lawn will, unfortunately, not get rid of clover, and it may even encourage it to flourish. Let your lawn grow to a healthy height of over 3 inches and then set your mower blades no lower than this level. Higher grass will cut out the light that clover loves and discourage it from spreading.

While it's a good idea to water your grass during a drought or when temperatures are high, you should not water your lawn every day. For most lawns, watering one to three times per week is sufficient. Avoid watering in the middle of the day or when the temperature is above 95 degrees Fahrenheit, as the extreme heat will cause the water to evaporate before the soil can fully absorb it. The best time to water your lawn in the summer is in the early morning at dawn or in the early evening, such as between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., when it's cooler.

It kills chiggers by dehydrating their exoskeletons. Diatomaceous earth is basically ground-up shells, so there’s no risk of injury to animals.
