"Very well. If you use a sink that is not purchased from Pacific Tile (stainless only), be sure it is available early on in the installation process, to ensure it can be installed."

"Chris from Rochester Renovation did an impeccable job. I am very picky and expected excellent work. He did not disappoint. There wasn't a single scuff on my walls from the removal of the old trim, flooring and toilets. He was very tidy and clean. The carpets were protected with cloths and his work areas were free of garbage. He took all of the old materials with him along with the scrap produced by the job unless there was something I wanted to keep. The tile was installed with precision and care. If he wasn't sure how I'd like something done, he asked. I felt he respected my opinion and included me in the process to ensure my satisfaction. He honored my opinion on the pattern of the tile layout, the grout color, the grout line width, caulk color, trim, etc. I was as included as I wanted to be. His trim work was also impeccable. The toilets were replaced with care and, frankly, it didn't look like he'd ever been there once he was finished...other than leaving me with beautiful floors! I felt comfortable leaving him in my home when we weren't able to be there. As a bonus, he didn't smoke. The tile looks incredible. I chose an odd size (6x24) and he handled it with no issue whatsoever. I have had many compliments on his work. I highly recommend Chris and would hire him again."

"Everything was great from start to finish. We appreciated how much information Jon provided about the process and his recommendations. He gave us a quote if they did everything but took it off if we had time to do the work beforehand ourselves. The day of everyone was respectful of the house and keeping the area clean and the results are amazing. We absolutely recommend and plan on using LNJ floors in the future!"

"Excellent - I ended up hiring someone to help with shopping and finishing piece - waste of time and money. Jill's service was by far the most useful and best value in my decorating process.

"High Tech recently re-brownstoned the co-op that I live in on 83rd Street and did an amazing job.  The price that we got from High Tech was about half of what we were quoted from the next lowest bidder, but the work ended up being so beautiful that people walking by our building are stopping to take photos.  High Tech reconstructed all of the old brownstone details that had been worn off and totally lost over the years.  These guys were artisans and asked me for very old photos of the building, which they used to re-create the designs of the building details.  It took a bit longer than I expected but It turned out so great!!!  I never expected that they could bring our building back to it's former glory, especially given the reasonable price.   Come walk by and take a look.
A couple of years ago High Tech had done our stairs, which also came out beautiful.  They got the detail right on that too.  The brownstone stairs look so nice, they have rounded edges like the most expensive brownstones have.  But again High Tech's price was the most reasonable of the bidders.  The have also done some other smaller jobs for us such as re-pointing and again I was very satisfied with both the quality of the work and with the price.
Oh, I almost forgot.  The electric company did some work on our block and chipped tiny bits off of the new stairs and High Tech came and repaired it at no cost.  I was very impressed with that since it totally above and beyond.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Your tiles will have a significant visual impact on your bathroom, so you’ll want to make a thoughtful decision. Once you land on the tile material that suits your needs and budget, you can consider the color schemes you want. Consider whether you want something modern, classic, or eye-catching.

If you want your ceramic tiles to be evenly spaced and installation to take less time, spacers are a crucial part of the installation process.

Silicone caulk shouldn’t be used in place of grout because each material serves its own purpose. Thanks to its flexibility, silicone caulk is good for sealing around the perimeter of tiled floors, where movement and expansion might occur. However, grout is more durable, making it a better option for the joints in between tiles, which need to withstand constant weight and foot traffic.

The rule tells you how to cut tile to install it in a corner. The 3/4/5 rule recommends that you should have 3 feet across on one straight line, four feet on the other perpendicular line, and 5 feet of length from the end of one of the lines to the other. You’re making a right triangle with the tile, and the hypotenuse (the line across from where the 3-foot lie and 4-foot line meet) should be 5 feet long.

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.
