"John stopped by last week to give us an estimate to install an outdoor water faucet off of the existing house plumbing. We accepted his price and set a time for installation the following week (today, 7-30-2019). The work was done in a timely professional installation. John is very personable, knowledgeable, and polite. I will keep him in mind for all of our plumbing work. Patric & Cindy Amarando"

"I have needed this company for a couple emergencies. 1) pipe froze and broke while I was delivering my Daughter came home to water spraying all over the basement-called them they escalated my call to their emergency service and within an hour the Plumber showed up and quickly repaired our line. 2) had our sump pump fail and 2 ft of standing water (a yr after water line broke) again I called and the Receptionist was very empathetic and escalated my call and sent the plumber to my home and within 4 hours of my call the basement was drained and a new sump pump was installed. 3) I had noticed that my back yard was getting wet and then had standing water that was foul.. Called and on the 2nd call the the Receptionist took down my information and had me send pictures of my issue to the plumber, he called me and stated that it looked like my septic distribution box had failed and he could be out the next day to replace it. I agreed with the plan he can on time, switched it out and referred me to a service to have my septic pumped. I called the septic company he referred and within 3 days they had me scheduled. They showed up, pumped my tank and all is well. So far I have not had one bad experience and I really appreciate the Receptionist "Shay" being kind and helpful. Thank you! Services: Repair pipe, Find & repair leak, Repair sewer"

"Chris and Tom were competent, professional, caring. Considering the weather they finished my outdoor projects in a timely manner. Their clean up was excellent. Will call them again."
The license requirements for water softener installation depend on your location. Some municipalities require that the installer hold a plumbing license, some require a permit and an inspection, but no license for the installer, and some require a permit and a license for the installer. Regardless of the local laws in your area, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or installer. These pros will install your system properly and have the experience to size the system appropriately. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your installer’s license status.
Water softeners are worth the money if you live in an area with hard water. Hard water is safe to drink, but it poses serious threats to your plumbing system. The minerals in hard water will gradually build up on the inside walls of your pipes, reducing water flow to your fixtures. The minerals can also gradually corrode your plumbing system, reduce its lifespan, and increase the risk of leaks. Hard water also makes soap and detergent less effective. Water softener systems can solve all these issues, making them a great investment.
It’s possible to install a water softener yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Water softeners require working with copper pipes and electrical wiring, neither are suitable tasks for most DIYers. Plus, working with water and electricity together is dangerous and could pose a risk to your safety. Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.
The cost to install a water softener system is $1,500 on average, ranging between $200 and $6,000. The labor for water softener work typically costs between $150 and $1,000, so you can add that to your equipment costs to get an accurate total. Your price will depend on many factors, including the following:
System capacity
Home size
Water hardness levels
Type of water softener
Presence of electricity in the installation area
Local permit costs
Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.

You want your appliances to last as long as possible, but if you live in an area with hard water, you might consider improving their longevity with a water softener.

Water softeners and filters might sound similar, but they serve different purposes. Here’s what to know when comparing a water softener versus a water filter.

Water softeners rid your home of hard minerals and, well, soften your water. Even better, the regeneration process is an automatic cycle that works when you’re least likely to use it.
