"Harvey and his team did a great job, everything looks great now and is properly installed. They were on time and completed on time and cleaned up after themselves. Harvey fixed work that was very badly done by another contractor."

"Fine Design did a great job on our bathroom from the gutting to the finish. Dave and Lenny were easy to work with and the workers were great! Cleaned everything up each day and were very polite. The quality of the work is outstanding. Everyone was very professional and was a much more pleasant experience compared to other contractors I have used. Thanks again-I highly recommend Fine Design."

"I had Nunez Construction totally renovate my apartment almost 3 years ago, 6 rooms with a total gutting of kitchen and bathroom. The work took 6 weeks and I was stunned and delighted with the results, and still am! A few weeks ago the tenant above me had a toilet overflow which ruined my pantry ceiling and wall and I also noticed that due to slight shifting of the building, there were slight cracks in the moldings and certain walls, so I called Efren Nunez and once again, he came to my rescue! His crew, especially Erick and Pavel are as professional and caring as Efren, they spent 3 days at the apartment and not only did they go over everything that I asked them to, they found things to fix that I didn't even notice needed attention. While they were there I had a serious door emergency and without any hesitation, they attacked that problem and fixed it. Most contractors only like the big jobs, where there is big money, but Efren Nunez and company will always be there for you, no matter what, they proved that to me with their current care and attention. I cannot stress how much this company has done for me, I urge anyone looking for any kind of construction, renovation, painting, masonry, etc., to give Nunez Construction a try, you will not be disappointed! THANK YOU EFREN FOR EVERYTHING!!!!"

"We hired Robert and his company to remodel our whole garage. The work was done perfectly and we have nothing that we are unhappy about. Everything was done perfect. Robert and his workers are the most trustworthy , friendly and nice. They are the best contractor I have ever had. They truly cared about my project and were there to answer all the questions I had. They fixed all of my issues in the garage. They were on time, within budget and cleaned everything up after they were finished. No mess was left. I highly recommend Robert to anyone looking to hire a contractor for their Home Improvement Project."

"Homecraft did an exquisite and flawless job remodeling our bathroom. We particularly appreciated the undivided attention that is allowed by their appointment system for consultations. They worked with us to customize the features to suit our needs and were open and creative in responding to our non-standard requests. The carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and tile work were performed by craftsmen who were clearly masters of their trades. Our old house served up a few surprises during the remodeling but Homecraft was able to resolve every problem with their connections to top-notch contractors outside of their usual services."

"I used these guys for a remodeling job which included bathroom renovation, some minor electrical work, knocking down and installing new dry wall and painting. Class acts! We all hear horror stories about contractors not calling you back or not showing up on time or showing up at all. Not these guys! Hector, Moises and their crew really did exactly what they said they were going to do. Friendly, responsive and oh yea, solid work! Professional through and through! Highly recommend them and would use them again!"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Bow windows need support because they are large and extend out from the exterior wall of the home. Bow windows may extend 1 foot to several feet from the outside of the home, so you’ll need to provide additional support to handle this weight. A window contractor will be able to provide the proper amount of support for your new bow window.

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.

A few signs that you need a new door frame include:

  • The door no longer fits properly in its frame and sticks or scrapes.

  • You notice cracks, holes, or rotting.

  • You feel a draft coming from around the door when it’s closed.

  • You find yourself frequently needing to make repairs.

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.
