"I hired Highlander to install a channel drain in front of garage to keep it from getting water in it. The guy showed up with his 16 year old son and dug the trench and laid the pipe very shallowly and left a large open hole in front of my driveway, that was one issue. The second issue was there was no slope to to the pipe. It is straight so the water is not actually draining. The third issue was they cemented the grates onto the the channel drain when they are supposed to be removable so you can clean it. They did correct that and the hole near the driveway they patched with stone, but it is still not pitched properly and the concrete was cracking almost immediately after drying, I asked for the salesman to come back and look at it and asked him if it looked professional, because it didn?t to me or my stepfather who does concrete for a living, and his response was that it did. Well, less than an a year and grates are popping up because the concrete is completely cracked."

If you notice water leaking down the side of the bowl or tank and you don’t notice any cracks in the porcelain, the odds are that it’s condensation. If you notice water around the base of the toilet, this points to a leak. Check for loose bolts. A sewage odor may also indicate a broken toilet flange.

Most faucets come with a rubber or plastic gasket that prevents leaks—but that’s not always the case. If your faucet doesn’t come with a gasket or it’s leaking, use a caulk gun to seal the gaps and prevent water damage.

The first step to clearing the air in a line is to locate the cause. This is usually a blockage in either the drain or the venting system. Once you clear the issue, flush the system by actually flushing the toilets repeatedly. This should allow the trapped air to escape, thus clearing the lines. Problems with a damaged handle or valve cartridge can result in a leaking faucet that won’t turn off completely. The faucet may also be rusty or corroded, which can prevent the faucet from turning the water off all the way. A leaky faucet can cause issues beyond the annoying dripping sound. It also wastes water and can be an indication that something else is wrong with the system, so fix a leaky bathtub faucet as soon as possible.

Soldering is a secure way to fix a leaky copper pipe, but if you don’t have access to a soldering iron, you can use a slip repair coupling or compression couplings. These types of couplings tighten with a wrench or by hand. If you’re looking for a temporary solution that doesn’t require soldering, you can use epoxy putty or adhesive tape.
