"I thought they did a great job; they were very professional and courteous, if there was anything I did not like was that the initial job was to unclog the main sewer line, but could not do it, they still charged me $275, in the past I only paid from $75 - $150 when they unclogged the line, they charged so much money for not unclogging, I think they should have bypast that charge, I did pay $9500, to replace the main sewer line and trap, which I'm ok with."

"I rated this company Top Notch because they are! From start to finish, friendly, respectful and professional. Christine in the office was delightful and got back to me each time she said she would with ETA. Jimmy did the work which hadn't ever been done since we moved in in 2000! He uncovered not one, not two, but five lids - cesspool plus two overflows and septic tank plus one. He sucked out the gunk, rotored out our lines and was patient, efficient and very pleasant. Explained everything that needed to be done. Took 2-3 hours of work. He cleaned up our backed-up tub and everything works great now. We would DEFINITELY hire them again. Highly recommended!"

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

A septic tank always has some amount of liquid in it—which should usually be 8 to 12 inches from the top of the tank. If the liquid level is higher than that or is overflowing the drainage pipe that leads out to the leach field, the tank may be too full and in need of pumping.

Most deep wells can be expected to last somewhere between 30 and 50 years. This assumes that the well and all of its components are properly maintained on a regular basis. During this time, it is unlikely that modern deep wells will run dry over the course of their typical lifespan. That is one of the biggest benefits of digging a deeper well.

While you can drain water softener backwash into a septic tank, doing so may cause several problems. One problem is that increased sodium chloride levels from water softener backwash can kill septic tank bacteria, decreasing the effectiveness of this wastewater treatment system. Another issue is that large calcium deposits can eventually stop up the drain field and lead to poor drainage.

Yes, it is possible to pump a septic tank too frequently. The ideal pumping schedule varies based on the tank's capacity, household size, and water usage. Pumping the septic tank more often than recommended can cause the beneficial bacteria to leach into the drain field, leading to an imbalance and a build-up of solid waste.

Trenches are typically 12 to 24 inches deep and 8 inches wide. However, the required depth depends on the specific project and local ordinances. For example, a French drain may need to be 18 inches deep, while a water pipe might require a depth of 24 inches and a drainage pipe 36 inches. Your city or county may have specific regulations, so it's wise to consult with an excavation professional to determine the correct depth for your project.
