"I hired Highlander to install a channel drain in front of garage to keep it from getting water in it. The guy showed up with his 16 year old son and dug the trench and laid the pipe very shallowly and left a large open hole in front of my driveway, that was one issue. The second issue was there was no slope to to the pipe. It is straight so the water is not actually draining. The third issue was they cemented the grates onto the the channel drain when they are supposed to be removable so you can clean it. They did correct that and the hole near the driveway they patched with stone, but it is still not pitched properly and the concrete was cracking almost immediately after drying, I asked for the salesman to come back and look at it and asked him if it looked professional, because it didn?t to me or my stepfather who does concrete for a living, and his response was that it did. Well, less than an a year and grates are popping up because the concrete is completely cracked."

Technically, you can make cobblestone from almost any type of rock, but if it is weather-resistant and stands the test of time is another question entirely.

A fireplace is, by definition, an enclosed space where you burn wood or other fuel for the purpose of generating light and heat. A firepit burns wood and is much less expensive to build, but they aren’t technically a fireplace as it isn’t enclosed. Yes, it’s a good idea to use paint primer on your brick fireplace before painting it. Brick is highly absorbent, so your first few coats of paint will likely seep into the surface of your fireplace, allowing the natural color of the brick to seep through. To avoid this, you’ll want to use one or two coats of primer, followed by the topcoat. 

Painted exterior brick does not usually need sealing. Brick is a porous material, so you don’t want to apply a sealant that could trap moisture inside the bricks and cause erosion and structural damage. The risk of moisture-induced damage after sealing is higher in colder climates where trapped moisture can expand if it freezes. On the other hand, it makes sense to seal really old brick or kitchen backsplashes, where moisture from cooking can weaken the brick.

Modern brick homes have a brick facade over standard framing and sheathing, so the brick offers minimal added structural stability. A home with traditional brick construction is more durable than a stick-built home, as the double-layer brick walls and rebar resist higher lateral wind loads and support heavier loads up top, as well.
