"The job went well, Wilson from Build N Bolt Construction was professional, he brought samples of different crown molding and he explained in detail about the installation of the molding. On day of the job he and his worker arrived on time with all material need. They were neat, clean and they clean up after themselves. I was very please with the work and I would use them again"

"This job--which I initially thought required complete reupholstery--turned into onsite repairs. Eli at ReUpholstery NYC asked for photos of the chairs, which led him to recognize that one person could rework the opened areas. We agreed on what I believe was a fair price and set a date and time. Eddie came promptly with the necessary tools and completed everything in about 2 hours time. I was very pleased with the entire experience, from beginning to end, and would highly recommend this company. THANKS!"

"I called and they responded immediately.. Came out to house and gave a reasonable estimate for job.. I hired them and they had the job done in two days, workers were nice and friendly. They matched my siding and you can not even tell where the new siding was installed. Very happy with the job they did, decided to get to do my gutters also, and get a estimate for them to paint and seal my new deck. Patricia P"

"I needed a contractor to safely move a hot tub from a second story deck down to ground . My mover told me I needed a contractor because it involved building a structure to transfer it safely. It would not fit any doorway . It was done expertly, safely, on time and on budget. Very happy with results and professionalism."

"PBRIGHT and Ezequiel were outstanding! From the initial conversation through completion they were a pleasure to work with. I recommended them to two other people including my co-op board president. I trusted Ezequiel and the team and they delivered 100%. It was my first time doing any sort of renovation work and they made it easy and simple. Painting, plaster work, fixing base boards, installing lights and plumbing- they did it all at a very fair price and the work was impeccable"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

No rules state how much of a load-bearing wall can be removed. Rather, you need to adequately support any area that is removed. Support should always be added to as much wall area is being removed. Failing to support the area properly will result in structural damage.

Proper Murphy bed installation minimizes the risk of wall damage. A secure attachment requires making some holes for anchors or brackets, but these can be easily patched if the bed is removed. To ensure the installation is done correctly and safely, hiring a professional is recommended, especially if you have limited DIY experience.

Framing a house with steel generally takes less time—around five to eight weeks—than most building materials. The steel components can also be made quickly off-site and manufactured with pre-punched holes for running piping and electrical wiring, which will lessen the prep work and extra labor during construction.

Homeowners can increase the usefulness of their garage space in other ways, and one option is to extend the length of the garage by making it deeper. The process is similar to traditional garage extensions, but the end product is a garage with a different layout rather than additional parking spaces.

Yes, you can find ceiling joists using simple tools if a stud finder isn't available.

Using a hammer requires patience and a keen ear. Gently tap the ceiling in a grid pattern, listening for sound changes. A hollow sound indicates space between joists, while a solid, dull thud suggests a joist. Mark the location with a pencil and confirm by tapping from different angles.

Alternatively, you can use a nail, but this method will leave small holes. You'll feel increased resistance when the nail hits a joist. Mark the spot and repeat the process every 16 or 24 inches to map the joist locations. This method is considered less reliable than using a stud finder.
