I could not be happier with my experience with the professionals at Urban Homecraft. I hired them to design, construct, and install custom bookcases/cabinets for two underutilized areas in my condo - a corner of the master bedroom and a stairwell landing. After the initial consultation, they provided me with drawings for the project, then updated drawings with modifications we discussed. They confirmed measurements before beginning fabrication, and gave me a detailed construction and payment schedule. It was a pleasure working with everyone at the company I came in contact with.

More smoothly than I could have imagined. Sane, reasonable, meticulous and helpful. My needs and design translated into something both functional and beautiful. It went so well I contracted for bookcases for both the living room and bedroom. So nice that I don't want to put anything on them. And now a storage bed.

Urban Homecraft, owned by George Evageliou, has completed 2 major projects for us: a total kitchen renovation and the redesign of a study/family room adjacent to our terrace. The projects were completed on budget and on time and were utterly painless, if not enjoyable, for us. We plan on engaging Urban Homecraft for all of our home improvement needs.
George looks at a space thoughtfully, listening to the people who live in it, to come up with innovative ideas that transform it into something beautiful yet highly functional. He is great at maximizing space and adding conveniences that improve the experience of city apartment living.
George is meticulous in his measurements and painstaking in the design process and it shows in the finished product. Everything just fits like a glove, the drawers and doors work ever so smoothly, and even the wood grain on the cabinetry match perfectly. Every last detail is considered and perfected. The rooms Urban Homecraft has redesigned for us look serene, comfortable, and inviting. It is an utter joy to live and work in the space after George has worked his magic.
George directs everything in the project from designing the cabinetry to hiring a superb contractor for demolition, electrical etc., to coordinating with the suppliers, appliance manufacturers and retailers. He even dealt with our Condo for approvals and scheduling. The craftsmen working for George do fine work.
George has the ability to make the client feel like their project is the most important one. Throughout, we felt we had his undivided attention. He promptly returned calls and emails and dealt with every challenge with zen like calm. The overall experience was actually enjoyable for us - and that is saying a lot for major renovations in a NYC apt that took place while we were living on the premises. I recommend Urban Homecraft without reservation.

Extremely happy with the results. Owner/manager George Evageliou provided excellent service; he was considerate, professional and showed deep design and construction know-how. He worked closely (and patiently) with me to help transform my sketches and layouts into a finished product. His construction/carpentry team (two men at the time) were skilled and conscientious craftsmen and exceedingly pleasant to interact with. They took great care of my home while I was out at my office. After the project was substantially installed, George and his team made several follow-up visits to make sure every design detail was properly installed.
The stained wood finishes are beautiful and the construction of the cabinetry feels very solid. Almost a year after installation, I have had zero complaints or "I-wish-I-had-done-this-differently" regrets.
I can't comment much on price, as George was the only owner among several establishments to respond and seriously respond to my initial requests for information. (I am a private home owner and not a design professional.) The price seemed very fair to me -- in the ballpark of $1000 per linear foot of cabinetry, which I understand generally is in line with costs for custom work in Manhattan.
George's Urban Homecraft website shows good examples of what his team can do. My project looks just as great in "real life" as the examples online look in photos.

It was mostly one carpenter who did all the work. He had paid good attention to detail. As he was in high demand the wait period to get the job done was a little longer than what we would have liked. The quality of his work was good though, and I was very satisfied.
