"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

"It looks fantastic! I love my (semi) new kitchen! Ed came to give us the estimate and we worked with him through most of the project but the rest of the guys were great too. They were willing to do what we wanted done instead of trying to talk us into something easier. We also have 2 big dogs who can get underfoot but all of the guys seem to be dog lovers so everything worked out fine. Our house was built in the 50s with solid wood Coppes Napanee cabinets and a Chambers copper oven and cooktop. We didn't want to gut the whole kitchen. It just needed a few upgrades. They took off the upper cabinets (without damaging them) and re-installed them closer to the ceiling and added a great looking crown molding. They replaced the semi-functioning electric cooktop with a gas one but kept the copper facing of the original. The backsplash looks amazing! Thanks Matt! The countertop got held up by the manufacturer but Ed worked hard to get it in 1 week instead of 3. The job ended up taking 2 weeks instead of 1 but it was well worth it. Even though there's not much to see in the way of the electrical system upgrade, I feel like our house is much safer than it was. We would definitely hire this company again. Ed and Matt and all of the rest of the guys were personable and do really great work."

Pre Made Cabinets questions, answered by experts

Storage cabinets can be custom or standard, depending on the purpose of the cabinet, size of your space, and available materials. If you’re looking to build something to a standard size, the usual range for cabinet dimensions are as follows:

  • Height: 12 inches–42 inches

  • Width: 12 inches–36 inches

  • Depth: 16 inches–24 inches

Taller cabinets typically have a height of 84 inches, 90 inches, and 96 inches.

The cost of cabinet installation is influenced by several factors, including the material and type of cabinets, the level of customization, labor rates, and any additional features such as soft-close mechanisms or hardware upgrades.

Most built-in bookshelves are custom-made to fit the available space and meet a homeowner's needs. This level of customization allows you to design the exact look and functionality you desire. However, you can buy cheaper, prefabricated bookshelves to slot into your desired space. However, prefabricated designs might not slot in as snuggly or need to be adjusted to fit.

Solid wood is the most common material for cabinet bases. It’s a popular choice because it’s durable and will hold up over time. Oak, maple, cherry, hickory, and pine are all types of solid wood that can be used to build cabinet bases. Other options include plywood, medium-density fiberboard, and other types of manufactured lumber, but they need to be sealed properly to avoid swelling, separating, and delamination from moisture.

It is typically cheaper to buy stock or semi-custom cabinets than to build custom ones. The price difference is significant:

  • Custom Cabinets: Cost between $500 and $1,200 per linear foot. This price is affected by materials, size, design complexity, and door styles. For instance, a simple slab door's materials might cost $60-$70, while a decorative mullioned glass door could be $100-$200.

  • Semi-Custom Cabinets: Cost between $150 and $700 per linear foot.

  • Stock Cabinets: Cost between $100 and $400 per linear foot.

While buying pre-built cabinets is more cost-effective, building custom cabinets allows for full modification to fit unique spaces, such as rooms with high ceilings or unusual layouts, which stock options cannot accommodate.
