I met Hein and his friend Scott at Ace Hardward in November, 2013. I had just been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver and was very sick during this time. I was looking for someone to do some work on my house and Hein told me he would do the work and that he charged twenty five dollars an hour. Hein gave me his phone number but told me he only texts and does not answer phone calls. I explained the work that needed to be done. First was a leak in the kitchen ceiling. The second thing was the ceiling itself needed to be repaired. The third thing was the door that was put on the addition to the kitchen would not close or lock. I also told Hein that the heating system was not heating the upstairs and was very low in the living room. Hein told me could do all the work I described. The first thing Hein did was check the roof over the addition (kitchen) and told me it had to be replaced. Hein replaced the roof and I paid him 3,400 dollars. It rained within a week of the new roof being replaced and the ceiling leaked very badly. Hein came back, cut a hole in the kitchen ceiling to see where the water was coming in and told me to text him next time it rained so he could see where the water was coming from. I texted him and he never came. It rained quite a bit that fall and winter and Hein finally showed up several weeks later when it was not raining, so the roof issue never got resolved. He checked the roof and could not find where the water was coming in from. He then had his friend Scott come over and repair the ceiling. This cost me 200 dollars. Next tine it rained, the ceiling was coming down - the plaster etc, was everywhere. I texted Hein and he came again, but it was not raining and he could not find the leak. This went on for several months with Hein not coming during the rain but afterward when it was not possible to see where the problem was. From there, Hein said he could fix the heating system but it was an expensive job. He and Scott came over and bled the radiators.. Hein even gave me a set of keys to bleed them myself. I paid Hein 500 dollars cash for this as he was supposed to come back the next day. When i finally got a hold of Hein, he came and checked the heating system in the basement and said i?d do better with circulators instead of zone valves but it was an expensive job - 800 dollars. I told him it would have to wait because I didn't have the money then. Hein agreed to work on other smaller projects. He took out a cabinet drawer that was broken, brought it home and returned it, fixed. I don?t remember how much he charged me for that. Then he noticed the kitchen door and asked me why it didn?t close and said i was losing lots of heat through the crack where the door did not meet the frame as it was supposed too. Hein said he would send Scott to replace the door. Scott showed up and fixed he door, but he didn?t replace it as agreed upon as part of our agreement. The door still does not close all the way, and there is still a space that lets air in. The next project when Hein finally showed up again was the sliding glass door that had a lock that didn?t lock. Hein took the lock out telling me he would fix it and bring it back and put it back in. He never gave me the lock back and when I questioned him on it he went to his truck and gave me a gadget that was not a lock and didn?t fit the door at all. I don?t know what the gadget was that he gave me. I had to have someone come and look at the door and lock and was told that the doors were old and no longer made and there was no way to get a new lock without replacing the door. We ended up removing the second sliding glass door and putting it in place of where the door without the lock was so I could lock the door. I still can?t lock the door as the second door was not a door with a lock on it, it just looks like it is locked. I have photos. I feel it is Hein?s responsibility to replace the sliding glass door since he lost the lock and i can not lock my door. Then my husband came up and i introduced him to Hein and they discussed the work Hein would do, and the cost. Hein asked me if I would be willing to trade a double antique porcelain/cast iron sink and my husband?s Italian racing bike as payment for the kitchen door, the kitchen window, and the heating circulators. I agreed but i looked up the value of the sink and found it on eBay for 1,600.00. I decided not to do the exchange but to try and sell the sink myself. I could not reach Hein at all during this time. I texted him for months with no reply from Hein. I went to the doctors one afternoon around noon and when I came home the sink was gone, along with the copper pipes which was never part of our agreement. He also took the Italian racing bike, which my husband paid 2,500 dollars for. Hein came over and told me the sink was a piece of s*** and he threw it in the landfill. He said i owed him more money so I gave him an additional two hundred dollars. I asked him where the utility sink was that he promised me in exchange for the antique sink and he told me it was long gone. When i reminded him he promised to replace the sink he took he said, ?sorry, the sink I had is gone. ?So that never got done either. Hein came into my house when i was not home and removed my property. I was so shocked at this that i texted him and told him he had no right to remove anything from my house without me being there. But he never finished the work and never came back. I texted him for two years asking him when he was going to come and finish the work he took the bike, the sink, and the cash for, but he never answered. I ran into Chief McFadden and explained the situation to him. the Chief told me he would arrest Hein for breaking and entering but I refused when the chief told me Hein would have a police record. A year later when Hein continued to ignore my texts I went to see the Chief and he told me it was too late to press breaking and entering charges and to go to small claims instead. He then told me Hein was working right across the street and why not go over and talk it out with him and resolve this. I went over and called Hein and he ignored me and ignored me. Then he finally said ?I am not finishing any work for you, I will never step foot in your house again, take me to court. If the court decided i pay you than i pay you.? When i asked why and what was going on, Hein said i tried to have him arrested. I told him i did not and when he insisted I brought Chief McFadden over to Hein and the Chief told Hein I never pressed any charges against him. Hein did not believe either of us. I swear this is true to the best of my knowledge and my understanding."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ny/canajoharie/new-amsterdam-contracting-reviews-9132270.htm"},"position":3},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Empire's Aide & Services","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"NY","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"John H."},"reviewBody":"Never used because talking to them on the phone was impossible."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ny/new-york/empire%27s-aide-and-services-reviews-6220774.htm"},"position":4},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Design Garage Doors","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"NY","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Donato P."},"reviewBody":"Joe the sales person was punctual but that was that only good thing I can say. We had 6 wooden dining room chairs which were my grandmother's (so at least 60 years old, as she died at 90ish); wooden backs, seats worn through and what appeared to be kapok stuffing falling out here and there. Not particularly good quality chairs I don't think, but of sentimental value to me. We also had another, nonmatching wooden chair which I wanted reupholstered in a matching fabric. All had dings and scratches and occasional loose joints, and we had put sticky felt on the bottoms of the legs to avoid scratching our dining room floor. I telephoned to ask if he could do the job, phone was answered promptly and pleasantly by Mr. Hayden himself, appt made for us to bring chairs to him the following day (a Saturday in early June 2013). I did not have upholstery cloth picked out, he said fine to get it elsewhere (he could tell us how much needed after seeing chairs) or he had some we could look at. Address he wanted chairs brought to was different from that listed as Havenhouse Upholstery on Google (it appears on Google as Havenhouse all one word); appeared to be his home when we got there. He had a furniture-filled workshop in his back garage which is where we dropped off the chairs; he had about a dozen different rolls of upholstery cloth of different patterns/fabrics in the back of his minivan and we chose one we liked from that selection (I am perfectly happy with what we chose, but do not consider myself a picky shopper in matters of style -- durability and stain resistance more important as we have kids, and he recommended some of what he brought as more durable than other fabrics, we chose from those). Estimate was $575 for reseating/upholstery/stain guarding and $200 for repairs to chairs (he said refinishing was not recommended for chairs like these, and that was not our focus anyway), paid by check $250 deposit. He said it would take several weeks. Late June I called to check and let him know we would be unreachable for a week, he said he was almost done. As arranged he called me after we returned to arrange pickup, appt made for next day. He stated repairs had been more extensive than estimated and would be an extra $75 (I made no quibbles). Place to pick up was another different address. I had to call to confirm address twice (trouble entering into GPS) but each time Mr. Hayden answered right away himself and was immediately helpful. and quot;Haven House Upholsteryand quot; or similar not seen on signage of building at that address when I arrived so I phoned; he drove to where I was (took 1 minute) and led me back to a storage unit containing a workspace and lots of furniture including our chairs. He helped me load up and I paid remainder by check to him personally, receiving receipt with both Haven House Upholstery and his name at the top which lays out work done nicely but does not include tax line (I have to assume sales tax was included in the price). Quality of the work: seats look great, very comfortable to sit on with good firm/soft balance for both me (short and fat) and husband (tall and thin), fabric fits tightly and is beautifully folded over corners and evenly trimmed underneath, a lot better than the original seats even before they wore through. The fabric we chose had a herringbone pattern which would show minor faults in alignment easily and this was perfectly aligned on each chair. Wood had greatly diminished ding/scratch appearance, still present (as expected) but have to look a lot harder to find them. Joints very stable now, no leaked glue visible (if he used glue; I didn't ask how he made repairs). Unasked, he had replaced the sticky felt pads under each chairleg with the same color and thickness we had used. Overall, I am very pleased with the work quality. Timing and what would and could not be done was all accurately explained in words I could understand. Cost was a bit more than original estimate but I believe the chairs deserved this as he hadn't tested the joints a lot before making his estimate, and this is not a visible problem. I had expected more of a storefront experience given the name and quot;Havenhouse Upholsteryand quot; but reaching and dealing with Mr. Hayden was easy at all times. My only concern is the lack of evidence of having paid sales tax on the receipt, which I did not notice until I got home. I would use him again if needed; he seems to be a real craftsman who cares about quality and that is well worth putting up with a slightly less-than-slick business demeanor. Wes showed up on time, and although I wasn't really sure what I wanted, Wes was very patient and took his time with me, showing me all the options and explaining the pros and cons. After narrowing it down, he took the measurements for the windows and showed me an estimate on the spot. Wes also informed me of a manufacturer's rebate, and the energy efficiency tax rebate that I would be eligible for with certain products. I told him that I needed some time to think about it, which he was totally okay with, and he sent me the written estimate by email a few days later. I decided to order the window treatments, and Wes put my order in right away. A week or so later, Wes emailed me to let me know that my shades had arrived. Unfortunately, I was not ready to have them installed because I needed to have my windows painted first. Wes was very understanding and patient. A couple of weeks later I received an email from Wes with a friendly reminder about the deadline to submit my invoice for a rebate from Hunter Douglas. I thought this was great of Wes to remind me so that I wouldn't miss out on the rebate! After my windows were painted and ready, I contacted Wes and he immediately arranged a date and time to do the installation. Once in their shop, we assumed that they would inspect and access the necessary work to repair the appliances. They just started working on them without providing any time or cost estimate or even to tell us what was wrong. After about a week, I was told that the 2-drawer refrigerator was repaired but they were still working on the ice maker. I had asked if they could at least deliver the refrigerator and was told that they can not (or would not) deliver them separately. As months went on, I would call with regular frequency to find out the status only to be told that someone would call me back later. Of the two dozen times I called over the almost 6 months they had the appliances, only 2 phone calls were ever returned. Eventually, I called one Friday at 4:30 p.m. and got an answering machine telling me that they were closed and their hours were Monday through Friday, 8-5. I left a scathing message saying that I was fed up with the lack of returned phone calls and information and insisted that someone call me back the following Monday. As expected, Monday came and went without a phone call. Finally on Tuesday, someone called me to tell me that they appliances were fixed and ready to be installed and that someone would call me Wednesday or Thursday to set up a time to install them as well as give me a cost. As expected, no phone call was ever received. We didn't know when they were going to arrive on Friday as they never called to let us know and after re-installing all the appliances, demanded to be paid on the spot for an amount we had no idea what was going to be. Luckily we had the money to do so, but if you don't happen to have a spare couple thousand dollars in your account when they show up, you might be in trouble. Absolutely horrible experience and torture to deal with."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ny/hudson/ackermans-appliance-reviews-2192563.htm"},"position":10}]}

FAQs for phone repair projects in Canajoharie, NY
The average cost to repair a cellphone is around $180, but prices range from $20 to $250 or more, depending on the type of repair. Some of the less expensive common repairs include charging port or headphone port repair, which averages around $60, and minor water damage, which can total as low as $30 in some cases. Screen repair—the most common cellphone repair needed—averages around $180 and can fall between $100 and $350, depending on the extent of the damage.
It is possible to fix a broken phone screen yourself using a phone repair kit, but we don’t recommend it. Replacing your screen isn’t as simple as taking the old one off and putting the new one on, and DIYers can mess up many steps. Those include opening the phone without damaging internal components, removing internal pieces without breaking them, and calibrating the screen after replacement. Any mistakes could lead to problems with functionality and might lead to your phone failing to work. It’s best to hire a phone repair technician who can fix your phone screen efficiently.
A cellphone repair technician is the person that typically repairs phones, and there are specialties within that position, like a cellphone screen repair technician. In most cases, you can send your phone to your manufacturer for repair, but this option usually takes significantly longer and costs more than hiring a local cellphone repair specialist. If you choose a reputable repair technician, the repair will be more or less identical to what the manufacturer would provide.
Yes, it’s usually more cost-effective to repair a cellphone than replace it entirely. Phone repair services can be costly, depending on the extent and type of damage, but you’ll almost always spend less on repair than on replacement. Plus, replacing the phone might not help if the problem lies with your service provider, such as issues like dropped calls or poor network connection. However, it’s worth repairing your phone for mid-level issues like a cracked screen, damaged headphone jack, or smashed charger port.
In most cases, it is more affordable to repair a cellphone than it is to buy a new one. The average cost to repair a phone is around $180, while the average smartphone costs between $720and$1,000 or more. Repair costs are almost never more than 50% of the total phone cost, with the high end of repairs costing around $350. If you hire a professional phone repair service near you, you’ll usually save significant funds repairing instead of replacing your cellphone.
